Job Title Student Technician ITS Classroom Support General Description This is a student position responsible for assisting in providing technical support to university faculty and staff. Position may be responsible for assisting in a variety of department functions including but not limited to: technical support for all endpoints; maintaining instructional environments; receiving and releasing computers and equipment for service; and resolving computer hardware/software issues. Works under close supervision, with minimal latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. Job Duties 1. Assists classroom support technicians with daily break/fix issues.2. Performs hardware/software maintenance and installation on computers and other peripheral devices.3. Assists with inventory.4. Receives new technology hardware, provisions new hardware for deployment, delivers and migrates user data and trains on new equipment as necessary.5. Retrieves equipment from the field; may include installation of temporary solutions.6. Works with other technical departments in troubleshooting activities.
7. May replace projector bulbs.8. Assists with special projects as assigned.
9. Performs other related duties as assigned. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities The minimum education required for admittance as a student at Stephen F. Austin State University.

This position is subject to background check due to security sensitive information. Preferred Qualifications 1. Technical experience.2. Customer service orientation and skills.3. Understanding of computers, both Mac and PC, and basic classroom technology.
4. Ability to work and communicate effectively with a team.
5. Ability to work maximum number of weekly work hours. Physical Demands Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds. Must be able to climb a ladder and work from one to assist with equipment installation. Special Conditions for Eligibility A student must be enrolled in six or more semester hours to be eligible for student employment during the fall or spring semesters. To be eligible for student employment during the summer, a student must be enrolled in three or more semester hours or be registered for courses in the upcoming fall semester.
