Student Worker Program - Associate Exterior Systems Engineer, Advanced EV

Ford Model E is responsible for developing the key technologies and capabilities – such as EV platforms, 
batteries, e-motors, inverters, charging and recycling – to create ground-up, breakthrough electric 
vehicles. By joining the best software, engineering, design and UX talent, you will be a part of creating 
new technologies and concepts that can be applied across the Ford enterprise. Being on the Ford Model 
E team means building the future as Ford’s center of innovation and growth through electric and 
connected vehicles and services. 

 What Are We Looking For?  

Pursuit of a relevant Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related fields   A GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale (or equivalent)   Analytical and creative problem-solving skills Must be able to work from the Irvine, CA campus.   Must be able to dedicate 6 MONTHS for this engagement   Candidates must graduate and be available for full-time work prior to September 2025 Experience utilizing CAD for solid and surface constructions  

Our preferred requirements

Experience with 3DX and CATIA Software preferred   Strong mechanical engineering fundamentals, with preferred to have experience designing mechanisms, electromechanical components Strong understanding of the materials and manufacturing processes such as injection molding, stamping, composites, paint and other surface finishes

What Will This Opportunity Do For You?  

You’ll grow your expertise and analytical skills through collaboration with a global, cross-functional team, ownership of a well-defined project, and exposure to new technology and tools used to improve vehicles and customer experience. You’ll work closely with studio design teams and gain experience working on A-Class surface components development You’ll be able to gain hands on experience on CAD design, prototyping and functional testing and validations  

What Can You Expect To Do?  

You’ll work on packaging exterior systems and components within the vehicle architecture following Class A surface and design   You’ll Interpret aerodynamics and CAE simulation, test results, integrate recommendations into exterior design You’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams within engineering, manufacturing, and purchasing to ensure system manufacturing, assembly feasibility, and serviceability. Support vehicle development milestones and prototype/production build events
