Student Worker Program - Electrical Systems Integration Engineer

The Powertrain Systems & Integration team sits at the intersection of electrical + mechanical hardware design, vehicle network communication, software features and vehicle controls development. 

As an Associate Powertrain Software Integration Engineer, you will participate in the system level design activities for the powertrain, with a special focus on the electrical and controls integration to the rest of the vehicle system. You will Conceptualize, Design, Engineer, Develop and support the launch of next generation vehicle platform architectures for electric vehicles. 

 

 

The minimum requirements we seek: 

Current attendance in a bachelors, masters, or PhD engineering program. 2+ years of schooling in mechanical, mechatronics, electrical, robotics, or computer science engineering. A strong base in electrical, mechanical, and/or computer science fundamentals. Working knowledge of systems development processes, vehicle architecture, powertrain technologies, software/hardware tool development, motor calibration technologies. Cumulative coursework GPA above 3.5. 

Preferred Requirements:  

Hands-on experience with vehicle mechanical and electrical system maintenance. Hands-on experience with vehicle onboard diagnostics diagnostic (OBD) tools.  Demonstrated leadership on a university vehicle projects/racing team (Baja, Formula-e, etc.), or on a similar project team. Prior coursework in computer science, vehicle dynamics, mechatronics, robotics, electrical engineering fundamentals, general dynamics, or mechanics of materials.  Experience with vehicle network communication protocols (CAN, LIN, automotive ethernet, etc.).

Define vehicle and system level test plans for powertrain software features. Run software test and validation cases for powertrain vehicle features and vehicle control functions. Support software bring-up activities on test benches, and vehicle prototype builds, and on test vehicles. Use field data to improve the design and performance of the powertrain system.
