Student Worker Program - Interior Systems Engineer

Join our Electric Vehicle Digital Design (EVDD) team for a 6-month Student Worker Program and help build the future of mobility! Immerse yourself in Ford's center of innovation and growth, working alongside top engineering, design, and software talent to create groundbreaking EVs and contribute to key technologies like batteries, charging, and recycling. This is your chance to gain hands-on experience and make a real impact on the automotive industry. 

What Are We Looking For?  

Pursuit of a relevant Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering or a related field   A GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale (or equivalent)   Analytical and creative problem-solving skills  Must be able to work from the Irvine, CA campus.   Must be able to dedicate 6 MONTHS for this engagement   Candidates must graduate and be available for full-time work prior to September 2025   Experience using 3D CAD software collaboratively

The Interiors Engineering team is responsible for concept development and detail design of the vehicle cabin systems through multiple stages of development. Our team works to ensure that the interior is comfortable, functional, and aesthetically pleasing while also meeting safety and regulatory requirements. 

Develop 3D geometry and innovative designs concepts that solve challenging crash load cases while balancing construction, material, and manufacturing methods.  Perform and understand tolerance analysis, Finite Element Analysis (FEA), and other simulations and analyses before releasing designs for production.  Develop, study, and implement novel construction techniques and materials then drive them to production feasibility  Hands-on prototyping, testing & troubleshooting
