Student Worker Program - Junior Closures Systems Engineer

Join our Electric Vehicle Digital Design (EVDD) team for a 6-month Student Worker Program and help build the future of mobility! The minimum requirements we seek:  

Currently studying Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or relevant field  Experience with Catia V5/6, 3DX and or other CAD software Experience with confluence, and Jira or similar applications Detailed knowledge of the product development process from design, development, validation and industrialization  Knowledge of the materials, processes & technologies used to deliver automotive structure systems or equivalent products   Proven experience driving progress on multiple projects across multiple locations and timelines  Experience in an automotive product development environment  An eagerness to work cross-functionally in a dynamic environment where you are part of a high performing team A system approach with the desire and curiosity to strive for exceptional delivery execution and continuous improvement  

Preferred Requirements:  

Ability to post-process CAE data (META, Altair Hyperview etc.).

This is a 6-month program

As a Closures Systems Engineer Student Worker, you will work amongst the team to drive complex closures design problems to completion. You will be working on a small high performing team that will have a high interaction and collaboration with other vehicle systems’ owners to deliver a fully integrated EV vehicle that achieve aspirational targets associated with cost, weight, efficiency, and exceed operational tolerances required to deliver the ambitious project scope. This team will be highly technical in nature and will come from engineering and data centric team environments that will deliver high quality designs. You will perform holistic end to end engineering life cycle from ideation through design, engineering, and test. 

What you’ll be able to do:  

Responsible for closures CAD design and release.  Plan, conceptualize, and develop designs to effectively support existing and new product offerings.  Develop testing processes and perform testing and validation of new designs.  Coordinate with design team on concept realization and feasibility using rapid prototyping methodologies. Perform engineering calculations to support design work.  Use engineering analysis and simulation to design in product quality in the early design stages and reduce iteration and issues during new product introduction.  Create design documentation for release to manufacturing including part/assembly drawings.  Support program through production tooling, qualification testing, and manufacturing introduction.  Create and review technical drawings, plans, and specifications using CAD software.  Collaborate with multi-disciplinary engineering teams, and work with vendors and contractors.  Participate in activities to verify the accuracy of designs, while documenting each process.
