**Job Summary**
The Department of Psychiatry is seeking a Research Area Specialist Associate to serve as a Study Coordinator supporting an NIH-funded, multi-site research project focusing on suicide prevention. The study is conducted in an inpatient psychiatric setting at Michigan Medicine's University Hospital and will be conducted through 2029. The study will involve interviews with adults hospitalized following a suicide attempt to identify warning signs for suicide attempts.
In this role, you'll work in an exciting environment which provides support for professional growth opportunities to connect and collaborate with other research teams within the University of Michigan and potential opportunities to submit and present at professional conferences in collaboration with the Principal Investigator and research team. Notably, they will be doing work that has a real impact on patient's lives.

**Responsibilities***
+ Study coordinator for a multi-site NIH-funded Suicide Prevention study which includes by is not limited to maintaining communication and coordination between sites.
+ Assist with participant recruitment and consenting.
+ Conduct structured and semi-structured study interviews and assessments, in person on an inpatient psychiatric hospital setting.
+ Conduct mental health chart review and data abstractions.
+ Functional supervision/oversight of volunteers, students, or temporary employees.
+ Other administrative duties as needed.
**Required Qualifications***
+ Bachelor's Degree in a related field
+ 1 or more years of experience in a related field.
**Desired Qualifications***
+ Master's degree in Public Health (MPH), Social Work (MSW), or equivalent; other management-related field (e.g. Health Administration) with experience working on a research study.
+ Clinical and/or research experience with patients who have had recent suicidal thoughts and/or attempts.
+ Experience conducting clinical research interviews & assessments.
+ Comfort discussing sensitive topics with vulnerable populations.
+ Experience working in emergency departments and/or psychiatric inpatient units.
+ Ability to work independently with minimum direction and seek guidance when appropriate.
+ Must have an active driver's license with reliable transportation.
**Work Schedule**
Full Time, Monday - Friday; occasional weekends as study enrollment needs dictate.

**Background Screening**
Michigan Medicine conducts background screening and pre-employment drug testing on job candidates upon acceptance of a contingent job offer and may use a third-party administrator to conduct background screenings.
