Join our team as a Study Therapist at Texas A&M University! The Department of Psychological and Brain Sciences is seeking dedicated individuals to join our Trauma and Stress Studies Center Lab. As a Study Therapist, you will have the opportunity to work in a collaborative environment, contributing to clinical trials that use evidence-based cognitive-behavioral interventions to treat adults, including civilians and veterans, dealing with alcohol or drug use disorders and trauma/PTSD. The position offers specialized training in study protocols and weekly supervision sessions to support your professional development and ensure adherence to intervention methodologies.
Ideal candidates will hold a master’s degree in clinical or counseling psychology (MA), be a Licensed Social Worker (LISW), or a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC). Opportunities to Contribute
+ Deliver manualized, evidence-based cognitive-behavioral therapy to research participants, including Relapse Prevention and Cognitive Processing Therapy.
+ Supports the Trauma and Stress Studies Center Lab with administrative tasks such as scheduling sessions, coordinating with the research team, and preparing materials for therapy.
+ Maintain accurate and timely records of therapy sessions, assessments, and participant progress in accordance with study protocols.
+ Participate in protocol-specific training sessions and weekly supervision with Principal Investigators to ensure adherence to study methodologies and professional development.
+ Perform comprehensive evaluations to assess participants' mental health status, substance use, and readiness for treatment.
Qualifications
+ Bachelor’s degree and 4 years of relevant experience
A well-rounded candidate may also possess one or more of the following
+ Master’s degree in an accredited clinical or counseling psychology program, social work program or marriage and family therapy program
+ Current licensure as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), or equivalent in the state of Texas
+ Demonstrated proficiency in core counseling competencies, including effective communication, active listening, empathy, and ethical practice
+ Knowledge of and experience with evidence-based therapeutic modalities relevant to the target population, such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) or trauma-focused interventions
+ Demonstrated experience in delivering manualized, evidence-based cognitive-behavioral interventions, particularly Relapse Prevention for substance use disorders to adults with comorbid PTSD and alcohol use disorder
+ Experience working within clinical research settings, including familiarity with research protocols and data collection
+ Comfortable with telehealth platforms and electronic health record systems, ensuring seamless delivery of virtual therapy sessions and accurate documentation
+ Skilled in analyzing client issues and developing effective, evidence-based intervention strategies.
Salary: Compensation will be commensurate based on the selected hire’s education and experience.
Location: In person with potential virtual and/or hybrid option available.
Special Note: This position is funded from grant and/or contract funding, which is renewed through provisions of the grantor of the contract. Therefore, this position is contingent upon continuation of funding from these grants and/or contracts, as well as satisfactory job performance.
