Subcontracts Manager

Following significant project awards, Wood are recruiting a Subcontracts Manager within our Transmission & Distribution (T&D) business to broaden our supply chain and strengthen relationships with existing suppliers and subcontractors. This role can be located from any of our UK offices including Glasgow, Aberdeen, Stockton or Knutsford.  We will also consider hybrid working arrangements.

 

The T&D business are a leading provider of engineering and construction services to the UK transmission and distribution sector.

 

The UK transmission sector is experiencing significant growth to achieve the UK and Scottish Government’s 2030 offshore wind targets of 50GW and 11GW respectively. The role provides a fantastic opportunity to play a key role is designing how we deliver infrastructure projects that are critical to the energy transition and be part of growing our deliver capability to support our Clients to achieve the increased network capacity that is required to deliver the UK governments pathway to 2030 and the transition to net zero.

The Role

The Subcontracts Manager will be responsible for the leadership and management of the subcontracts function across Wood Transmission & Distribution providing all aspects of subcontracts management. With an emphasis on civil engineering works, the role includes all aspects of subcontract management including identification and pre-qualification of new contractors to enhance Wood T&D’s delivery capability, development and implementation of tender and commercial strategies, negotiation, reporting and bid support. 

This role will be responsible for setting and delivering functional strategy and key functional / business objectives e.g. cost savings, working capital improvement, people development. Key aspects of the role include being responsible for adding value through identifying efficiencies, driving out waste and reducing costs from within the supply chain.
