Role/ Department:

The Network Management group is responsible for managing Northern Trust’s network of subcustodians, nostro bank relationships, ICSDs and CSDs where Northern Trust has a direct relationship, globally.  

The Network Management group has two primary areas of responsibility, Country & Relationship Management and Risk, Information Products & Control. This position is within the Risk, Information Products & Control team and will be based in London. The role will report to the Global Head of Risk, Information Products & Control.

Network Management performs various risk-focused activities including due diligence and performance monitoring. The Risk, Information Products & Control team are responsible for ensuring Network Management meets all of its regulatory and compliance requirements and the management of subcustodian and market information to clients, investment managers and partners.  

The key responsibilities of the role include:

Production of various statistical and measurement reports focusing on the team’s products and activities, routine and ad-hoc data analysisTo provide report findings based on the data analysis performed both quantitative and qualitativeUnderstand and challenge data anomalies and identify areas where a more effective approach is achievableMonitoring activities related to regulation and complianceAs first line of defence, collaborating with second lines of defence (Compliance, Legal, Enterprise Risk Management, Operational Risk Management) and third line of defence (Audit) Assist to remediate any items noted by regulators and auditors, building controls with a strategic frameworkAssist with input into recovery and resolution planning activity and providing support with other key regulatory deliverablesProactively identifying changes in processes, policies, operating systems, organisational changes, regulatory requirements and business environment which may impact business controlsAssisting with the development and successful implementation of systems, processes and project changes for the Network Management group

Skills/ Qualifications:

Financial services experience, ideally in a global custodian / custodian bank environmentExperience in a custody / risk / oversight roleExceptional written and verbal communication skillsStrong analytical skillsAbility to quickly assimilate and analyse large amounts of informationStrong Project Management skills and experienceCandidate should be detailed oriented with strong “attention to detail” mindsetStrong problem solving and technical skillsStrong PC skills to include competent knowledge of MS Word / Excel / PowerPoint / ProjectAbility to work collaboratively with regional and global partners within other operational business units; able to navigate organisation
