**Job Description:**
**About the Role**
The Subject Matter Expert - Sustainability will play a critical role in ensuring the successful delivery of The Line's ambitious sustainability goals. This position requires a highly motivated and experienced individual with a deep understanding of sustainable building practices, environmental impact assessments, and relevant industry standards.
**Key Responsibilities:**
+ **Develop and implement sustainability strategies:** Collaborate with project teams to integrate sustainability principles into all phases of the project lifecycle, from planning and design to construction and operation.
+ **Conduct environmental and social impact assessments:** Oversee the preparation and analysis of Environmental Impact Assessments (EIAs), Social Impact Assessments (SIAs), and other relevant environmental and social studies.
+ **Ensure compliance with sustainability standards:** Monitor and ensure compliance with relevant sustainability standards, certifications, and regulations, such as LEED, WELL, and local environmental regulations.
+ **Develop and manage environmental and social management plans:** Develop and implement Environmental and Social Management Plans (ESMPs) to mitigate environmental and social risks and ensure the project's long-term sustainability.
+ **Monitor and report on environmental and social performance:** Track and report on key environmental and social performance indicators (KPIs), such as energy consumption, water usage, waste generation, and social impacts.
+ **Engage with stakeholders:** Collaborate with local communities, government agencies, and other stakeholders to ensure effective communication and engagement on environmental and social issues.
+ **Promote a culture of sustainability:** Advocate for and promote sustainable practices throughout the organization, fostering a culture of environmental and social responsibility.
+ **Stay abreast of industry best practices:** Continuously research and stay updated on the latest advancements in sustainable building technologies, materials, and best practices.
**Qualifications:**
+ Master's degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Engineering, or a related field.
+ Minimum 10 years of professional experience in sustainability consulting, project management, or a relevant field.
+ Proven experience in developing and implementing sustainability strategies for large-scale construction projects.
+ Strong understanding of environmental and social impact assessment methodologies.
+ Expertise in relevant sustainability standards and certifications (e.g., LEED, WELL, ISO 14001).
+ Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
+ Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
+ Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
+ Proficiency in relevant software applications (e.g., GIS, BIM software).
**Desired Skills:**
+ Experience working in the Middle East or on projects with similar scale and complexity.
+ Knowledge of Arabic language.
+ Experience with community engagement and stakeholder consultation.
