Position Purpose
Mercy Care is seeking a dedicated Substance Abuse Counselor to provide expert clinical support and guidance for individuals recovering from substance abuse or dependence. As a critical member of our behavioral health team, you will deliver essential services that support our clients' well-being and recovery, acting as a leader and consultant for addiction counseling across our clinic sites.
What You Will Do
Conduct screening, intake, orientation, assessment, and recovery planning for patients.
Provide direct counseling, case management, and crisis intervention to clients.
Offer client education, referrals, reporting, and record-keeping in compliance with state standards.
Collaborate with the Behavioral Health Manager to ensure comprehensive clinic coverage.
Provide clinical supervision and oversight for site Addiction Counselors, including case presentations and consultations.
Participate in community outreach events 3-4 times annually to promote health and wellness.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Human Services or a related field.
Current certification as an Addiction Counselor by the Georgia Addiction Counselors Association, Alcohol and Drug Abuse Certification Board of Georgia, or National Addiction Counselors Association.
Minimum of five years of experience working with the target population, including three years of supervisory experience.
Bilingual skills are preferred.
