Day in the Life of a Substance Abuse Counselor
Provides individual counseling to highly complex patients.Conducts clinical assessments to appropriately assess patient’s treatment needs.Designs and updates the patient’s treatment plan, including care coordination, referrals, and discharge planning.Manages assigned caseload and compliance with clinical treatment requirements.Collaborates with nurses and providers to provide holistic treatment services.Facilitates urine drug screening for patients.The most qualified candidates will possess the following:
High School Diploma or equivalent. Bachelor's Degree preferred.Must be registered with the North Carolina Substance Abuse Professional Certification board - applicants who are not registered will not be considered for employment. (LCAS, LCAS-A, LPC, LCSW or CADC). LCAS preferred.Experience treating opiate-addicted patients is not a requirement but is preferred.Candidate must be willing to start early in the morning, as work hours start at 5:00 AM.If recovering, three years of continuous verifiable abstinence is required.Position Benefits
