Actalent Engineering is seeking a Substation Engineer who specializes in conducting studies and analysis using ETAP and/or SKM. This role could be remote for an experienced engineer with quarterly visits to the office in Minnesota (Central time zone is preferred).
Analysis: Perform detailed analysis for high voltage substations, including load flow, short circuit, arc flash, grounding, and transformer sizing studies using ETAP and SKM.
Technical Documentation: Prepare clear and well-written study reports, technical specifications, and design calculations.
Project Coordination: Work within a multi-discipline team to ensure project schedules are maintained and projects are completed successfully.
Site Support: Provide support during the construction phase, including resolving site queries, attending site meetings, and performing site inspections.
Software Proficiency: Utilize design software such as AutoCAD and MicroStation for preparing or revising design drawings.
Compliance: Ensure designs comply with all applicable codes, standards, and company policies, including safety, environmental, and quality assurance protocols
Educational: A degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.Professional Experience: Several years of experience in substation design and engineering, preferably within utilities, EPC, or consulting organizations.Technical Skills: Proficiency in ETAP, SKM, and other related software packages (e.g., WinIGS, CDEGS, CYMCAP).Certifications: Professional Engineer (P.Eng or PE) registration is often required.Soft Skills: Strong communication skills, ability to work collaboratively in a team, and excellent problem-solving abilities
