POWER Engineers is currently seeking a Substation Physical Engineer to work in the Power Delivery Substation Department of our Augusta office located in Hallowell, Maine. Flexibility is available for a hybrid work environment (employee will need to live within driving distance of the office).
Roles and ResponsibilitiesThe position includes working within a team to complete complex and technically challenging aspects of electrical utility substation design and understanding and adhering to client standards.Perform the detailed Physical design of medium to extra high voltage utility substations. Typical designs include but are not limited to:One-line diagramsPhysical layoutsSubstation equipment selectionSubstation general arrangement plans, sections, and elevationsControl building design and detailsCable and conduit plans and detailsGround grid design and detailsLightning protection design and detailsYard lighting design and detailsMaterial listsAC and DC systems calculations and sizingEngineering Documentation such as Requests for Information (RFI's), Scope Documents, Equipment Specifications, Protection and Control Descriptions, and Construction SpecificationsWork with CAD designers/drafters to develop drawing packagesCoordinate designs with other disciplines such as Substation Protection & Control, Structural, and CivilParticipate in quality assurance and quality control programsContribute to engineering proposal developmentContribute to engineering project scheduling and budget managementRequired Education/ExperienceAbility to function as a Substation Physical Engineer in our Augusta office located in Hallowell, Maine. BSEE (BS Electrical Engineering) or BSEET (BS in Electrical Engineering Technology) from an accredited university preferably with a power optionUnderstanding of substation equipment and its functionGood command of the Microsoft Office Suite, with an emphasis on Outlook, Excel and Word.The candidate must have strong command of the English language with good written and oral communication skills in order to work effectively with internal team members and external client personnelCandidate must be legally authorized to work permanently in the U.S. without the need for work sponsorshipDesired Education/ExperienceThree (3) or more years of experience in electric utility substation design is preferredAbility to produce applicable drawings from rough sketches, notes, client examples, vendor drawings, and such.Engineer Intern (EI) certificate or passed the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) examAt POWER Engineers, you can have a rewarding career on every level.
