Primary Responsibilities + Actively engage with youth in classroom environment + Assist education staff members in managing student behaviors + Assist teachers in preparation and implementation of curriculum + Council youth in matters of personal conduct, hygiene, appearance, safety, social skills, academics, and decision making + Proactively prevent or manage a crisis situation in a therapeutic manner + Fulfill other duties as assigned Required Qualifications + High School Diploma or GED + Ability to build rapport with youth based on healthy boundaries, effective communication and mutual respect + Ability to demonstrate sensitivity, compassion, patience, and active listening + Ability to effectively work with individuals from a diverse array of cultural backgrounds, beliefs, customs, and lifestyles + Ability to physically restrain if required Preferred Qualifications + Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in Human Services, Criminal Justice, Sociology, Psychology, Theology, Social Work + Demonstrated experience working with youth in professional or volunteer capacity We want to emphasize that the preferred qualifications are not required and that we are committed to helping our future colleagues develop these preferred skills.
