Posting Details Position Information Job Title Substitute Teacher - Charter School Full Time/Part Time Part Time FLSA Non-Exempt General Job Description This is a temporary, on-call position responsible for working on a temporary basis to replace a teacher in the Charter School. Responsible for implementing the lesson plans of assigned class. Creates a positive learning environment that impacts all students with the opportunity to develop autonomy, openness, integrity, collaboration, creativity, and the ability to communicate effectively with peers, teachers, and persons with advanced levels of expertise in common areas of interest and involvement. Reports to the CEO of the SFA Charter School. Essential Job Functions 1. Implements teacher lesson plans.
2. Supports a facilitator/mentor style of instruction maintaining a classroom environment conducive to learning along with physical, social, and emotional development of students.
3. Manages classroom/students in accordance with established policies and procedures. Non-Essential Job Functions 1. Attends meetings as required.
2. Performs other related duties as assigned. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills, and abilities or be able to explain and demonstrate that the individual can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation.
1. Knowledge of, or the ability to learn, university policies and procedures.
2. Knowledge of growth and development.
3. Strong teaching skills.
4. Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form.
5. Ability to maintain appropriate classroom management.
6. Ability to work effectively with parents and fellow teachers/administrators.
7. Ability to work varying assignment lengths based on need. Physical Demands Required Education Some college experience is required. Required Experience and Training One year of experience working with children is required. Preferred Qualifications Coursework in early childhood and/or child development is preferred. Special Conditions for Eligibility This is a security-sensitive position subject to criminal record check.
