About the Team The Consumer Finance (CF) team within the division of Research & Statistics contributes to the division’s and the Board’s responsibilities in the areas of monetary policy and financial stability. Research and analytical work is focused on topics related to household finance, consumer credit markets (including those for credit cards, auto loans, and student loans), and asset-backed securities. As part of our mission, we aim to advance the economic measurement of consumer debt, which is an important part of the financial system. Your Role This Summer The CF intern will primarily work on the project that contributes to the section’s coverage of finance companies and gain hands-on experience in data collection and survey design and implementation. The intern is encouraged to participate in events at the Board for incoming summer interns for further learning and enrichment. Time permitting, the intern will also have opportunities to work on other section projects that support our mission. The project will require the intern to: 1. Research, collect, and analyze available information gathered from public documents and sources, with the purpose of understanding a company’s business, structure, and financial information. 2. Work closely with Research Assistants and analysts to answer questions from the public, draft correspondence, and follow up with survey respondents. 3. Review, clean and revise data collected under the supervision of the senior staff. 4. Assist in generating reports and presentations. The internship will last 10-12 weeks and in-person presence is required in Washington, D.C. through a hybrid schedule. Qualifications • U.S. citizenship required • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate degree program, graduating Fall 2025 or later. First-year and second-year students are strongly encouraged to apply. This internship is ideal for accounting, business, communications, economics, finance, information systems, management, or a related degree seekers • Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills, and strong problem-solving, learning and collaborating skills • Ability to work independently, self-motivated and detail-oriented, proficient skills in Microsoft Office, and good programming skills a plus
