We are looking for interns interested in historic buildings and in state, local, and federal historic rehabilitation tax incentives. As an Intern you will work side by side with subject matter experts in a team-based environment to identify historic buildings and tax savings opportunities for owners and developers of historic properties. Interns will receive training and development to become the most seasoned state, local, and federal historic tax credit professionals in the industry.Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide exceptional client service to our clients by identifying historic tax credit opportunitiesAssist clients with state and local tax applications, which includes preparing clients for discussions with regulatorsResearch and draft Part 1 applications and National Register nominationsProvide expertise on American History, Architectural History or related field.Assist managers and consultants by preparing federal Historic Preservation Certification Application Parts 1, 2, and 3;Respond to client inquiries and requests from State Historic Preservation Office and National Park Service regulatorsReview documentation and research issuesWork with raw data to identify tax credit opportunitiesEducation and Experience:
Working toward a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in American History, Architectural History, Historic Preservation, or Architectural Design with a historic concentration.Anticipated graduation date within one year of internshipProfessional Skills Requirements:
Work effectively in a fast pace, high-energy environment.Strong problem solving, attention to detail, and communication skills.Proficiency in historical and online research.Ability to describe historic concepts, relate events, people and objects in historic context and present historic arguments through strong writing. Ability to prioritize tasks, work on multiple assignments, and manage ambiguity.Ability to work both independently and as part of a team with professionals at all levels.Ability to travel for site visits.Intermediate knowledge of all Microsoft Office applications, Outlook, and etc.Computer Skills:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must have intermediate knowledge of Microsoft® Word, Access, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Internet navigation and research.
Certificates and Licenses:
Valid driver's license required.
