The Summer Associates Program is PHLYs exclusive internship experience. It will require students to think critically about the daily responsibilities of an insurance professional. You will learn the ins and outs of the internal systems and work alongside professionals to complete team and company objectives. You will learn the impact of your department on the overall company and its success.
This role will be responsible for assisting with daily tasks and projects in support the PHLY Claims team. This role will require attention to detail, problem solving mentality and having a customer service mindset. It will be important to demonstrate these skills in supporting the claims review process. This role will work alongside our Claims professionals to understand the internal claims review process. The individual in this role will have the opportunity to shadow members within each Claims team.
Tasks/Responsibilities:
Daily tasks may consist of (not an inclusive list and subject to change): Support of one major project over the 10 weeks directly correlated to the Claims department. Assignment to support up to 3 smaller projects that Claims department is working on over the summer. Attendance at the Claims management meeting with exposure to Claims leadership. May be responsible for reviewing the coding of claims and updating special instructions. Opportunity to attend a trial or mediation providing experience of seeing the negotiation in process. Preparation prior to and debrief directly following this experience.
Program Overview/Benefits:
+ Program runs June 2, 2025-August 8, 2025; Monday through Friday, 8:30-5:00pm LT
+ Hybrid Schedule – 3 days minimum in the office/week
+ Participation in a team project; teams meet weekly to collaborate and prepare their final presentation which will be delivered to the leadership team at the end of the program
+ Attend weekly department overview presentations delivered by Senior Leadership to gain knowledge of the company and industry
+ Weekly meetings with your assigned mentor
+ On the job training within the department at the direction of the supervising manager
+ Volunteer opportunities
+ Hourly rate range $21.00-$22.00 depending on year in school
+ Opportunities within the program are available nationwide. Refer to each posting for the intended location of the assignment
Qualifications
+ Rising Junior or Senior pursuing a bachelor’s degree
+ Like Insurance? That’s a plus!
+ Involvement in community and extracurricular activities is preferred
+ Excellent written and verbal communication skills
+ Excellent customer service skills
+ Maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher
