CoorsTek, a leader in technical ceramics and a certified ‘Great Place to Work’ company, is looking for interns to join our creative team of process and design engineers to lead a small but impactful process improvement projects. This internship showcases exciting learning opportunities and hands-on experience in the field of Lean Six Sigma for Manufacturing.

Reporting to the plant’s Process Engineer, you will learn project management, structured problem solving, and ceramics manufacturing. Alongside a larger team of Design and Quality Engineers, you will also explore different aspects of being an Engineer at CoorsTek. You will leave this position with invaluable skills and industry knowledge.

Role & Responsibilities: (Overview of project/work)

As an Engineering Intern, you will play a key role in supporting our manufacturing team by contributing to the development and improvement of manufacturing processes, products, and equipment. You will have the opportunity to work closely with experienced engineers and production staff to gain hands-on experience in various aspects of manufacturing, including process design, Lean Six Sigma projects, and quality control. Through your work, you will help to identify and implement process improvements, troubleshoot technical issues, and support ongoing production operations. This is an exciting opportunity to apply your classroom knowledge to real-world challenges and contribute to the success of a dynamic manufacturing organization.

Job Requirements
Education & Experience:

Must be currently enrolled in a bachelor’s or master’s degree engineering program.

Ceramics, Materials, Chemical Engineering degree preferred. (Current standing Junior or Senior)

Previous internship or engineering/manufacturing experience a plus.

                

Functional/Technical Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Interest and/or coursework in Chemical Engineering or Material Science. Coursework in Fluid Dynamics, Heat Transfer, and Engineering Controls is a plus.

Foresight: Interns should be able to think critically and perform risk assessments to make a safe decision at work.

Accountable: Interns should demonstrate personal integrity and trust, taking personal responsibility for the quality and timeliness of work.

Determination: Interns should be able to perform tasks independently under little to moderate supervision and able to effectively utilize resources when appropriate.

Teamwork: Interns should be able to collaborate effectively with other team members, providing and receiving feedback, and contributing to team goals and objectives.

Time Management: Interns should be able to manage their time effectively to meet established deadlines. Interns should also be able to adapt to changing priorities and tasks in the face of challenges and obstacles.

Problem-solving: Interns should be able to analyze complex problems, identify potential solutions, and implement effective strategies to address issues that arise in the course of their work.

Data analysis: Interns should be able to analyze and interpret data related to their field of study, using statistical methods and software to draw conclusions and make recommendations.

Proficiency or experience in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Proficiency in technical writing and documentation

Familiarity of Quality Control, Lean Six Sigma, or Project Management is a plus.

Familiarity with programmable logic controllers (PLC), loop controllers, and automation is a plus.

Must be able to work with a diverse variety of people from different cultures and backgrounds
