This is an open posting for an Engineering Student Internship position at our Kennewick, WA Nitrogen facility.

 

Nutrien’s Kennewick Fertilizer Operations (KFO) is now taking applications for Engineering Studnets to provide support to the KFO Engineering department.

 

This role is open to current students who will be returning to their studies once this work term is complete. This position is not available for remote work.

Work will be both indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions. Outside the office, standard work wear will consist of hard hats, safety boots, safety glasses and ear plugs, with other items as needed; these items will be provided

Terms (Dates can be adjusted base on college schedule):

Summer 2025 Internship - May 19 to August 15 

 

What you will do:

Daily engineering support of operations and maintenance activities including troubleshooting equipment problems and providing engineering solutions. Review of cost estimates, project designs, equipment specifications and operating procedures.  Develop an appreciation for the philosophy of reliability engineering in the Technical Services sector. Worked alongside diligent professionals partaking in Preventive Maintenance, Reliability Centered Maintenance tasks and in the exercise of Quality Control. Participate in Root Cause Analysis Studies, along with tracking recommendations/learnings of Bad actors Contribution to the Tender Document preparation such as Review of Drawings and Bill of Materials Interact with multi-disciplinary teams

 

What you will bring:

Currently pursuing a degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent related program with a graduation date of December 2025 or later or confirmation of registration in a post-secondary institution in a degree or diploma program in Fall 2025. Preference will be given to Engineering students who have completed their 1st year of studies and are working towards a 2 to 4 year degree. Must be self-motivated along with the ability to pay close attention to detail and have a strong ability to work individually as well as in a team setting.

Strong written and verbal communication skills 

Strong analytical skills  Must be able to work at heights, outdoors, and around potentially hazardous chemicals Must be able to hear and understand audible alarms, changes in noise levels of rotating equipment and portable radio communications Must be familiar with Microsoft’s Office Suite
