About Our Opportunity

The Farm Credit Mid-America (FCMA) internship program provides students with the opportunity to grow and develop both personally and professionally through valuable on-the-job experience, job shadowing, networking, and mentoring. By working with a variety of departments, interns will have the opportunity to explore different career paths. Working as a cohort, interns will learn about our Association by assisting various departments to conduct research, capture and share data, and participate in a variety of projects throughout the Association.

 

Our 12-week program (May to August) combines on-the-job experience, group projects, mentorship, and customer-focused experiences. In addition, interns will participate in a series of learning and development
opportunities to build skills that translate to the workplace.

 

Compensation: We value our interns and offer a competitive wage alongside the benefit of gaining the real-life experience. Our 2025 internships pay $20 an hour. 

 

Schedule:  12 week summer intern program from May to August, 40 hours per week Monday through Friday with some travel within our territory.  

 

Location:  The primary internship location will be based at our Louisville office. Depending on the assignment, interns might work at a FCMA retail office in our marketplace (Arkansas, Indiana, Kentucky, Ohio, or Tennessee). Furnished housing is provided for those who need to relocate.

How You Will Spend Your Time

WORK AS A TEAM TO ACCOMPLISH SPECIFIC GOALS:  Interns will work as a cohort and within smaller teams in a variety of work and project situations throughout the program. Interns will be exposed to several departments and functions throughout the duration of the program.  These areas include Credit, Collateral, Food and Agribusiness, Human Resources, Marketing and Retail Operations and Rural 1st teams.  

 

INTERN LEARNING & DEVELOPMENT:  As an intern, you will gain Farm Credit Mid-America and industry knowledge as well as develop professional skills by completing a series of learning & development activities. This includes workshops, classes, and immersive experiences.

 
CUSTOMER, COMMUNITY AND TEAM INVOLVEMENT:  The intern will demonstrate FCMA values through his/her interaction with potential and current FCMA customers, the community, and the office team.  The intern will assist the office staff in daily activities as appropriate.

 

REPRESENT AND COMMUNICATE THE MISSION AND VALUES OF FARM CREDIT MID-AMERICA:  Interns represent and communicate our core values and comply with conduct policy and confidentiality expectations.  
    
CAPSTONE PRESENTATION TO FARM CREDIT MID-AMERICA LEADERSHIP:  At the conclusion of the internship, the intern teams will present their learnings and experiences from the program to members of the FCMA leadership team. 

Minimum Education & Experience

Summer Interns will be college students actively pursuing a bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, agriculture, economics, business, or related field.  Candidates should have completed a minimum of 30 credit hours toward their degree at the start of the intern program.

Mental & Physical Requirements

While engaged in this position, team members will routinely sit, use hands for tasks, and communicate orally. Standing or walking is frequently required, while occasional demands include reaching with hands and arms, and lifting or moving up to ten pounds. Vision requirements encompass close and distance vision. The work environment typically has a moderate noise level. This role may entail a blend of mental and physical capabilities, requiring strong mental acuity, problem-solving skills, and occasional physical tasks such as standing, lifting, or extended computer usage. Some roles may require physical or mental requirements related to driving, such as a valid driver's license, and the ability to drive a long-distance.
