The Caterpillar Oil, Gas, Marine Division currently has an opening for **Summer Intern** for **NPI Field Follow, Validation and Test Engineer** . This position will have a home base in **Houston, Texas** but might end up in a field location based on unit locations. As a summer field follow intern, you will be gain knowledge of new platforms, learn application know how, react to customer situations and coordinate corrective actions through the CAT and dealer networks. Key responsibilities will include, but not limited to, analyzing data and summarizing test results, performing root causal analysis, manage instrumentation and data, coordinated correct actions between our process partners and the customers. **What You Will Do:** + Provide technical support and input to aid in discovery of product issues. + Perform needed analysis and simulations to aid in explaining performance behaviors. + Manage field follow locations and keep the customer running. + Applied Failure Analysis skills with ability to find root cause through analytics and symptom tracing. + Collaborate with L4/L3 CAT product group teams as well as external partners to ensure program requirements are understood. + Protect Caterpillar’s intellectual property. + Understand the basics mechanical power trains (Engine and Transmissions). + Develop strong peer relationships and collaboration with oil and gas teams. **Top Candidates Will Have:** + Pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field. + Strong communication skills with ability generate and sell ideas. + Technical knowledge - experience with your hands. + Desire for hands-on experience electronics, control systems, and wireless communications. + Basic understanding of power train components (engine, transmission, and pump). + Understanding of failsafe methodology. **Physical Demands:** + Frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. + Required to sit; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. + Consistently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. + Must be able to wear protective footwear and other Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required by the department. **Work Environment:** + Regularly exposed to fumes or airborne particles. + Frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and outside weather conditions. + Occasionally exposed to high, precarious places and vibration. + Noise Level: Moderate  **Additional Information:** + This position will be required to travel up to 50% of the time + Internship dates will be May 19, 2025 to August 8, 2025 **Summary Pay Range:** $25.00 - $43.00 Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience.
