Overview:
The purpose of the position is to support all engineering projects and initiatives coordinated through APLL Innovation and Field engineering team. These engineering projects will be planned and executed within the APLL CLS warehouse network. This intern position works and collaborates closely with operations, IT, vendors, and project management teams. This position will be tasked to support projects aimed to produce higher productivities through the implementation of best practices, new/ upgraded technology and automation, labor management systems, process optimization, and product flow among others engineering initiatives
Responsibilities:
Development of flexible, scalable, innovative, and cost-effective engineered solutions for warehouse operations such as Receiving, Put Away, Picking, and Loading. Material Handling Solutions Order Fulfilment Solutions Storage System Solutions Automated Solutions Integrated solutions with WMS and WCS systems Process Improvements Work directly and collaborate with multifunctional areas: IT, Project Management, Finance, Procurement, and Operations. Coordinate and executes project activities: Process Improvement / Lean Projects Labor Management System deployment/ maintenance Business Development support New business onboarding Technology upgrades New technology deployment. Build and maintains engineering models/databases. Build and maintains facility layout drawings in AutoCAD. Conduct field observations, gathers data and analyses data: Work measurement Process analysis Product flow analysis Space analysis Interviews / Observations Complete research on market trends: labor, technology and innovation. Document and publish reports: projects, meetings, studies, observations. Support business development initiatives.Key Results Areas:
Maintains all project records in share point. Performs periodic back up of project data and records Maintains local team standard project templates.Qualifications:
General knowledge of Supply Chain Industry General knowledge of 3PL industry. Training in facility planning and design. Training in building/ simulating operational models. Training on conducting work measurements / time studies and building labor standards. Experience completing AutoCAD projects. MS Excel proficient. MS Word proficient. MS Power Point proficient. MS Visio beginner. Power BI beginner. Tableau beginner. Effective communicator: verbal and written. Strong technical and analytical skills. Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. The candidate must function in a fast-paced warehouse operations environment and collaborate in the development and deployment of effective engineering solutions. Works closely in coordination with members of the operations, implementations, and business development teams. Conducts field observations and analyze data. Excellent analytical, problem solving, and decision-making skills While performing the duties of this job the employee frequently is required to sit, reach with hands and arms, and talk. While performing the duties of this job the employee frequently is required to stand and walk on warehouse operations floor for extended periods of time, gather data through conversations with others or via observations and measurement. The employee may be required to travel to other sites to perform the same functions. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds. The employee is regularly exposed to ambient lighting and various climate conditions in unconditioned warehouse spaces.The hourly wage for this position is $20.00.
Candidates are eligible for the following benefit:
• one (1) hour of paid sick time for every thirty (30) hrs worked, and up to a maximum of forty-eight (48) hrs each calendar yr.
