About our Library System

The Thompson-Nicola Regional Library (TNRL), the biggest Regional District department, delivers services through 14 locations – urban and rural, a Mobile Library, and Library Home Service. Patron-centric, the TNRL goes the distance in providing service for a lifetime of personal growth, learning and enjoyment through programming, resources and space designed for people of all ages and abilities. 

The Role

The Summer Reading Club Assistant is responsible for planning, promoting, developing, and delivering summer programming. They will focus on summer programs for children, teens, and adults.

Duties include preparing and organizing materials used in summer programs, inspiring patrons to join summer programs through social media and other types of media outreach, and planning and developing programming for summer programs. Summer Reading Club Assistants will also deliver the programming they’ve planned, whether these programs are passive, take-home, or in person. Summer Reading Club Assistants build connections with community groups such as schools, daycares, preschools, day camps, and seniors’ groups. The position will require travel within Kamloops or to communities outside of Kamloops. 

This is a temporary 16 week position with an anticipated start date of May 6th, 2025. The schedule for this position is 9:30-5:00pm, Monday - Friday or Tuesday to Saturday, and may include evenings.
