Summer Trainee, Business Intelligence

The Business Intelligence trainee will be working in the KONE Business Intelligence Team, located in Espoo, Finland.  You will have the opportunity to work closely with experienced professionals and contribute to real-world projects that impact our business. In this role, you will be responsible for developing, managing, and optimizing Power BI solutions, ensuring optimal performance, and providing support to users. This role involves working closely with various departments to ensure that our Power BI solutions are scalable, secure, and aligned with business goals.

As a Business Intelligence Intern, you’ll have the opportunity to engage in a variety of impactful projects tailored to your unique skills and strengths, maximizing both your growth and contributions to the team. Key areas of focus for your internship include:

Power BI Development & Best Practices: Contribute to developing and refining Power BI reports and dashboards, while also helping define best practice.Data Modeling & Optimization: Work on creating and optimizing data models aimed at ensuring efficiency and performance of Power BI solutions.Collaboration & User Support: Collaborate closely with business stakeholders, aiding in their onboarding to the Power BI/Fabric platform. You will play a key role in promoting governance standards, offering guidance on the latest features, design trends, and best practices.

This role provides an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience with BI platforms, develop governance frameworks, and support business users in harnessing the power of BI tools effectively.

The position is based in Espoo, with the possibility of conducting some work remotely.

We are seeking a student in the final stages of their studies to work for three months between May and September 2025, depending on availability and preference.

To Be Considered For This Role, You Must Have:

Experience with data visualization tool (Power BI, QlikSense)Experience with DAX language for Power BI development and Power QuerySome programming skills in SQLUnderstanding of data modeling concepts and modern data architecture principlesStrong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detailExcellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholdersSelf-starter mentality with ability to work with minimal oversightCritical thinking skills to evaluate and challenge requirements instead of just implementing themPrevious trainee or project experience in analytics rolesAdaptability, project management & leadership will be crucial when working with cross-functional teams and ensuring adoption across departments

To Stand Out, You Could Have:

Hands-on experience with:Databricks platform and medallion architectureMicrosoft FabricVersion control systems (e.g., Git)Knowledge of:Data pipeline orchestrationBusiness intelligence best practicesAgile development methodologiesFabric, including Power BI Desktop, Power BI Service, and Power BI Mobile.
