Under the direction of the supervisor, either directly or through a lead person, this individual is responsible for setting up and operating various pieces of equipment. Equipment includes hydraulic presses, hones, lathes, baking ovens, CNC equipment (Omniturns, CNC mills) and other pertinent and similar equipment. This individual will be required to keep an orderly inventory of all associated jigs, tools, dies, and measuring instruments. This person must be able to operate all equipment in the department at production levels, train new employees, and fill in on any job in the department including the lead persons when required.
The incumbent must select and install various tooling and or programs for multiple part sizes, perform offsets when necessary to assure parts are manufactured to the blue print specifications. The person will perform set ups for other individuals as production requires. This person could be responsible for at least one person more than 50% of the time.
This individual must be able to use or adapt existing tools to new jobs whenever necessary. Responsibilities will also include simple maintenance of both tools, such as sharpening, and machines, such as lubrication. Other responsibilities include maintaining accurate production records, and counts, maintaining a safe and clean work area, moving work as required, doing unusual or experimental work, and performing any other reasonable duties as assigned by supervision either directly or through the lead person.
