Unclassified employees serve at the pleasure of their appointing authority. POSITION DESCRIPTION: Serves as the Superintendent under the direction of the Facility Engineer Manager. This position is necessary to provide supervision to the electrical department. Oversees a majority of duties on system/equipment at an above 3 phases above 480 volts and primary distribution lines of 4160 volts. Oversees the installation of high voltage transformers. Provides guidance to private contractors on circuit layout of building and facilities. Direct and train helpers, supervise other electrician or maintenance personnel on a functional basic. Oversees subordinates who locate and correct problems on the high and low voltage lines by using insulation meggers, oscillators, or tone detectors to locate faults in underground cables. Use phasing sticks on phase rotation meters to check out rotation of cables before switching into the circuits. Troubleshoot and repair golf carts and golf cart chargers. Remodel existing residences, including retrofit lighting and receptacle circuits in the finished surfaces. Keep service records and data cards updated on all electrical equipment. Troubleshoot and repair Energy management system (NET). Troubleshoot and repair various commercial kitchen appliances such as ovens, dishwashers, and disposals. Assist HVAC personnel with large jobs and emergency overtime situations. Supervise the dismantling, repairing and assembling of generators, motor generators. Supervises journeyman electricians in the installations, maintenance, operations, and repair of the electrical facilities, which include power and lighting system up to 160 volts, elevators, automatic doors, diesel power emergency generators, fire alarm system, etc. Responsible for quantity and quality of work produced. Complies with OSHA and other safety requirements. Perform diagnostic and testing major overhaul of equipment. Maintain and recharge air conditioning systems with proper amount of lubricant and freon. Perform other duties as assigned. POSITION QUALIFICATIONS: Must have experience in maintaining boilers and high voltage regulators. GENERAL REQUIREMENTS: • Must have a valid Driver's License, Social Security Card and Birth Certificate. • Must be available to report to duty during emergency or disaster situations for extended hours over an extended period of time. Other periodic travel may be required. • Must meet physical requirements to perform functions of the position. • Must attend/complete all Louisiana Military Department (LMD) annual training and other training required for the position. • Must adhere to the Code of Ethics and foster a Sexual Harassment-Free Environment.
