Your impact
Oversee geotechnical activities to ensure ground stability and operational safety.
As Part Of Our Team You WillFacilitate the formulation, maintenance, and execution of strategic Geotechnical plans to enhance the operation’s slope stability program and deliver mine plans. Deliver, implement, and assess mine design parameters for current and future pit, waste dumps, and other facilities on the mine.Coordinate geotechnical instrumentation monitoring, data collection activities, structural mapping and geotechnical analysis.Execute geotechnical project drilling, mapping, and laboratory tests to anticipate any changes which may affect the geotechnical risk profile of the mining area.Coordinate the continuous monitoring of pit walls through visual inspections and instrumentation to for warn any potential instabilities.Establish and maintain site specific ground control management plan.Distribute accurate, timely, and relevant geotechnical information to the Mine Operations supervisors, team members, planners, and site management.Identify relevant risks, implement mitigation measures, and continuously monitor for risks.Lead the Mine Geotechnical team including the coordination of training and development and proactively drive Fatality Risk Management to identify relevant risks, implement mitigation measures, and continuously monitor for risks. Plan scope-of-work documentation, budgets, and manage Geotechnical consultants and assigned contracts. Work with consultants and contractors to ensure compliance with project specifications, safety standards, and contractual obligations, while maintaining alignment with organizational goals.Prerequisites For Your Success In This Role
Bachelor’s degree in Geotechnical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or related fields. Strong understanding of geotechnical engineering, hydrology, and slope stability. Strong understanding of geotechnical data collection, mine design parameters, instrumentation and stability monitoring. Solid understanding of risk management and business improvement principles and practices.Demonstrated ability to lead and manage team.Experience in project and/or contract management.Your Work Environment
This job is located at Peñasquito mine, in Zacatecas state, in Mexico.In this role you will work on an rotational schedule.Collaboration and interaction are expected with teams across the global, regional, and site organization as well as across other service and operational areas of Newmont across multiple time zones.
