Summary

SUMMARY: Responsible for overseeing the Dental Billing team including all billing functions like review of the claim, resolve billing issues, patient communication, and staff training.

DUTIES & ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: NOTE: Following are the duties performed by employees in this classification. However, employees may perform other related duties at an equivalent level. Not all duties listed are necessarily performed by each individual in the classification. 

1.  Oversees the Dental Billing Team. Provides financial, clerical, and administrative services to ensure efficient, timely, and accurate patient billing and follow-up in accordance with objectives of the Dental/OMFS department. 

2.  Utilizes conflict resolution and problem-solving techniques to handle patient billing inquiries and complaints.

3.  Prepares weekly outstanding claims reports.

4.  Audits patient accounts for billing errors or inconsistencies.

5.  Oversight function on denials, calling insurance, correcting coding, communicating with providers, etc.

6.  Partners with Patient Financial Services department on resolving claim issues either by researching billing questions, appealing denied claims, refunds and sending corrected claims as needed.

7.  Partners with the practice manager, clinical, coding, access, and other revenue cycle teams to ensure billing needs and best practices are met.

8.  Complete special projects for the Director and department as needed.

9.  Performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities as well as possession of any required licenses or certifications is qualifying.

Required Education: High School diploma or equivalent.

Required Experience: Three years of experience in dental billing, accounts receivable and/or other business-related activities

Preferred Experience: FQHC billing experience; supervisory experience.

Preferred Licenses/Certifications: Bilingual
