Department Overview

The Safety and Infrastructure Protection Team (SIPT) serves under the Emergency Field Operations (EFO) – Wildfire, Emergency and Operations (WEO) organization and performs wildfire mitigation and prevention, asset protection, and emergency fire response to support PG&E’s stand that catastrophic wildfires shall stop.  The purpose of the SIPT organization is to safeguard PG&E coworkers, help prevent ignitions and protect PG&E’s infrastructure through hazard mitigation and emergency response. To accomplish this, the team performs a wide range of emergency response, wildfire mitigation, and routine work activities.

 

Position Summary

Partners with other leaders to develop and recommend a strategic direction for emergency preparedness and response and public partnerships. Oversees staff involved in implementation of emergency plans & processes, training, emergency exercises/drills, communication and actual incident management. Serves as a liaison to public safety agencies during emergencies. Ensures compliance with all company and regulatory safety policies and practices.

This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and your assigned work location based on business need. The assigned work location will be within the PG&E Service Territory.  Positions available within North Valley North, Central, Yosemite, and a flexible location. 

 

PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job.  The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity.  Although we estimate the successful candidate hired into this role will be placed towards the middle or entry point of the range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors.

 

Bay Minimum: $126,000
Bay Maximum: $200,000

 

&/OR

 

CA Minimum: $120,000
CA Maximum: $190,000

 

This job is also eligible to participate in PG&E’s discretionary incentive compensation programs. 
 

 

 

Job Responsibilities

 

Provides day to day direction to staff involved in planning and implementing emergency preparedness training and providing ongoing support and consultation to regional staff through Electric or Gas Distribution Operations. As needed, implements policies, procedures and systems required for maintaining and enhancing the overall emergency management to include preparation, prevention, response and recovery. Partners with Manager on needs assessment, training planning determination of most effective training methods and tools. Collaborates with PG&E Academy on training content development to streamline and improve the company’s ability to respond to emergencies. Develops and documents emergency preparedness plans, processes, procedures and roles. Presents recommendations for procedures and processes to Manager and/or Director. Ensures staff maintain and update processes and procedures as business needs change. Directs team in identifying and exploring continuous process improvement. Plans, facilitates and schedules regular emergency training exercises. Determines the target audience, oversees training scheduling and communication. Monitors training attendance. Conduct de-brief sessions after each exercises to assess effectiveness and identify areas for improvement. May coordinate with state and local emergency management authorities. Supervises staff to accomplish results through effective recruitment and selection, training and development, performance management, and rewards and recognition.  May supervise multiple SIPT Lead and Technicians across a broad geographic area.

 

 

Qualifications

Minimum:

 

High School or GED-General Educational Development-GED Diploma Job-related experience, 5 years Experience in emergency management planning or related, 3 years

 

Desired:

 

Associates Degree in Emergency Management or job-related discipline (i.e. Fire Science, Natural Resource Management) ICS certification at the Command or General Staff level 5 years’ experience as a full-time, paid Chief Officer in a fire service organization  Utility industry experience, job-related Experience in restoration and control, electric or gas utilities, or related NIMS-National Incident Management System IS700 certification ICS-Incident Command System 100-400 certification
