ENVIRONMENTAL AFFAIRS SUPERVISOR, COMPLIANCE FIELD TEAM
JOB SUMMARY
Please be aware this is NOT a remote position, however, this position will require extensive DAY travel (mostly within the state of Georgia) up to 75% of your time.

This position reports directly to the Environmental Compliance and Services Manager and is responsible for the leadership, oversight and direction for the Compliance Field Team and Environmental Compliance Center (ECC). The field team is comprised of four regionally positioned Environmental Compliance Field Specialists and the ECC manages special waste disposal and coordination for our GPC facilities.
This position will manage all aspects of the field team supporting generation, transmission, and distribution facilities to establish, maintain, and ensure consistency with the GPC Environmental Management System (EMS) and Environmental Management Information System (EMIS), Enablon, related to processes and technology. Responsibilities also include facilitating between environmental affairs program teams and the facility teams on a regular basis to ensure alignment with environmental matters.
The successful candidate must maintain a good working relationship with a multitude of facility teams and know how to engage with multiple project stakeholders. A strong working knowledge of the environmental compliance programs (waste, water, air, compliance assurance, etc.) is required. Excellent communication and presentation skills are crucial to this role as the incumbent will be responsible for communications, implementation of programs and technologies, training, mitigations, guidance, and other functions as needed.
This position is primarily located at the Georgia Power Environmental Laboratory in Atlanta, GA @ 2480 Maner Rd, Atlanta, GA and will be expected to travel to GPC sites on a routine basis.
JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide leadership, employee development, and performance management for a team of 5 environmental compliance staff. Provide the guidance and communication to ensure that GPC is establishing knowledge transfer, visibility, and recordkeeping of Environmental Compliance activities at each facility in a consistent way in accordance with the GPC Environmental Management System (EMS). Provide leadership and oversight to the ECC and ensure alignment of the ECC and the waste program stakeholders on all special waste related matters. Build and maintain relationships with key internal customers and peers to ensure environmental policy and procedure understanding. Ensure active compliance is consistently executed across GPC facilities. Provide support for environmental training and knowledge transfer as needed to aid in successful employee transitions at the GPC facilities. Monitor and proactively communicate status on facility needs and environmental compliance deliverables as well as timely gap closures related to environmental activities in a consistent, concise, and transparent manner. Ensure the utilization of our compliance technology (EMIS / Enablon) and other technologies as identified. Assist in identifying needed tasks, milestones, and resource requirements for assigned projects. Balance budgets, schedules, environmental requirements, regulatory requirements, and deliverables as applicable. Ensure that all environmental issues and decisions are effectively communicated in a timely manner.JOB REQUIREMENTS: (Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills)
Education & Job Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in science related field (i.e., Environmental Science, Chemistry, Biology, Engineering, etc.) or equivalent work-related experience highly preferred. Extensive environmental field and customer support experience required. Environmental professional certifications a plus (waste, water, etc.). 7+ years of experience in environmental compliance and/or environmental project management with experience in a minimum of two of the environmental programs (Water, Waste, Land, and/or Air) highly preferred. Excellent interpersonal, communication and leadership skills with the ability to influence. Strong judgement and critical thinking skills with the ability to analyze and resolve regulatory and compliance issues, evaluate alternatives, determine viable solutions, and implement solutions in a timely manner. Knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local regulations. Demonstrated ability to be proficient and utilize technologies such as Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Enablon, Maximo, PowerBI, etc. and deliver metrics/ reports. Ability to prioritize and balance multiple assignments with competing deadlines in an effective manner. Experience with compliance in Generation, Transmission, and/or Distribution is a plus.Leadership Experience Requirements:

Must have at least one year of verifiable driving experience (Must hold a valid driver’s license for the class vehicle to be operated. Driving permits are not typically considered a valid driver’s license). Must have no revocation of driving privileges within the 36 months prior to application, no convictions of major traffic violations (DUI, hit and run, reckless driving, etc.) within the 12 months prior to application, or any pending charges for a major traffic violation at the time of application.
