**Job Description** **Position Title:** Supervisor, IT Security **OPEN UNTIL FILLED** **Department/Location:** Information Technology, Bismarck, ND **Company:** Basin Electric Power Cooperative **Position Purpose:** This position is responsible for overseeing major business IT security and delivering security related projects. This includes multiple application deployment, maintenance, and enhancement projects utilizing a variety of computing architecture. The incumbent leads the efforts of several cyber security system specialists, and outside consultants at various levels of expertise. Under the supervision of the Manager, the incumbent collaborates with customers, staff, colleagues, and other stakeholders to identify security requirements, assess available technologies, and recommend solution options. This position has technical project leadership responsibility and regularly coaches other team members. This position is also responsible for maintaining appropriate staffing levels and workload distribution. **This position is identified as a Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP) related position which may allow physical and/or logical access to Bulk Electric System (BES) cyber related assets or systems.** **Essential Functions:** + Along with IT Leadership, design and implement security policies, protocols, and procedures to safeguard Basin Electric’s information systems. + Supervision of IT Security personnel day-to-day workload, analyzing and managing employee performance, hiring and developing staff commensurate with the role, develop and work with the Manager of Network and Telecom to manage the area budget and assist with overall IT budget, participate in division strategic planning process. + Provide analysis and technical expertise to the BEPC/DGC business units, facilities, and members on security design, configuration, implementation, and maintenance to provide reliable and secure communication, access, and compute needs. This includes routing, switching, wireless, and security infrastructure. + Provide analysis and technical expertise for system, data, and application security through maintaining appropriate permissions for user job duties and use of industry standards and security tools such as End point Detection and Response systems (EDR), + Foster and maintain good relationships with customers and Information Technology (IT) colleagues to meet expected customer service levels. Provide daily support, troubleshooting, and problem resolution, including after hours on-call support for assigned business application systems. + Monitor and report to management the status of project efforts. Anticipate and identify issues that inhibit the attainment of project goals and implement corrective actions. + Oversees and assists in incident response and incident management, including investigations and remediation efforts while ensuring minimal disruption to operations. Analyze security logs and generate reports for management regarding security status and incidents. + Responsible for enterprise security architecture, design, and strategy in alignment with business, industry, and regulatory needs and requirements. + Develops, builds, maintains, and oversees training plans for IT Security and Firewall staff to continuously improve the cooperatives security posture. + Directs the work of outside contractors and consultants. + Develops, reviews, and updates compliance documentation, network and security standards, policies, and procedures. Ensures compliance with regulations and standards and maintains documentation for audits. **Qualifications** **:** + Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer programming, accredited software engineering, or a related discipline and 10 years of experience in IT security; or + Associates degree in a related field and 12 years of experience in IT security; or + High school diploma or equivalent (HSED or GED) and 14 years of experience in IT security. + Three years of project management responsibility, with the execution of multiple projects using a diverse set of resources. + Knowledge of modern IT best practice and process. + Prior experience acting as a lead or previous supervisory experience. + Able to manage time, as well as manage project deadlines, and coach and mentor co-workers. + Excellent written and verbal communication skills. + Proficient with personal computers and Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel. + A valid driver’s license. + Resume required. + The above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed in this job. It also requires finger dexterity and hand coordination. This position requires the ability to communicate and must be able to clearly exchange accurate information. It also requires the ability to develop plans, procedures, and goals; present information to others; and work under stress to complete projects within deadlines.
