Position Summary: 

Helps establish and maintain protocols in Mammography departments. Establish employee work schedule, order supplies, do performance appraisals on technical staff.

Education, License & Cert: 

High school diploma and graduation from an accredited JRCERT Radiologic Technology Program required with a minimum of two years of experience in Mammography  Certification required; ARRT(M) � mammography certified within two years of employment. Certification required; Type: ARRT (M).

Essential Functions: 

1. Performs supervisory duties for Mammography

a. Performs routine quality assurance checks on equipment and other quality control procedures, as necessary.

b. Works with radiologist section chief to define and develop protocols pertaining to existing or new procedures.

c. Responsible for maintaining good patient flow through department by proper scheduling of procedures.

d. Make sure staff technologists maintain their expertise in section by instruction and in‐service programs.

e. Responsible that rules and regulations as they pertain to section are followed.

f. Keeps track of preventive maintenance on equipment as well as calling for necessary repairs on units.

g. Does performance appraisals on support and staff technologists.

h. Assists in preparation for department inspections by regulatory agencies such as, but not limited to, JCAHO, DEP, DOH, FDA, ACR and NRC.

2. Performs mammographic radiologic exams 

a. Adjusts mammography equipment in selecting the proper radiographic techniques for optimum image quality. 

b. Positions patients to obtain the desired radiographic results as specified by ACR and MQSA.

c. Reviews images to ensure acceptable quality and completeness for diagnostic purposes.

3. Obtains accurate medical history on each patient.

4. Assists physicians in the performance of biopsy procedures.

a. Assists physicians with needle biopsies and stereo core biopsies .

b. Has knowledge of the process to x‐ray tissue specimens sent down from the operating room, entering orders for biopsy specimens. 

c. Has basic nursing skills for paperwork, medications and sterile table set up.

5. Performs EPIC Mammo Coordinator duties

6. Schedules and coordinates required tests.

8. Must be aware of and follow all hospital and department specific policies and procedures.

9. Must posess high ethical standards and respect to discretion and regard for confidentially.

10. Must demonstrate ability to communicate and interact with a wide cross section of individuals in a courteous and tactful manner.

11. Must demonstrate ability to work with manager, Vice President, Medical Director or Chairman on projects and/or reports(e.g. regulatory, QA requirements, Quality Control procedures, devising and revising and implementing policies and procedures) as assigned.

Other Duties: 

1. Manages department Staffing schedule.

2. Utilizes ATA for schedules and timecard for employees.

3. Performs annual evaluations on employees.

4. Ensures area is properly supplied for performing diagnostic procedures and examinations.

5. Complete understanding of Radiology IT system as it relates to your area.

6. Have ability to gain patient acceptance in having procedures.

7. Must have good listening skills and able to make patient feel at ease. Must demonstrate ability to assist in developing skills for other departmental personel, including explanation of diffent procedures or duties. Must be aware of and follow all hospital and department policies and procedures.

8. Informs Manager/Management of equipment issues.

9. Demonstrates ability to participate in a professional manner inter departmental, hospital and/or community programs assigned. 10. Attends mandatory training in service as assigned.

11. Ability to work cooperatively with other technologist, nurses and healthcare professionals.

12. Works to keep high morale. Works to find solutions to problems.

13. Engages in consumer complaints through RL Solutions

14. Runs financial report for analysis. Assists in managing the costs of inventory / supplies used in radiology.

15. Runs Patient Satisfaction for analysis. Participate in patient and employee satisfaction improvement initiatives.

16. Other duties as assigned

QA Duties:

1. Oversees all required QA testing for MQSA/FDA.

2. Manages patient result letters.

3. Inputs biopsy results in EPIC.

4. Reviews ans maintains Radiologist continuing experience and continuing education credits.

5. Reviews and maintains mammo technologist continuing experience statistics and continuing education experience

6. Updates manuals and test forms.
