Supervisor, Manufacturing Engineer

Opportunity for a Supervisor, Manufacturing Engineer to join our couplings division within our Industrial Powertrain Solutions segment in Michigan City, Indiana.

Responsibilities 

Participate in overall product strategy, research and development requirements, development, and manufacturing coordination for new and emerging products in terms of quality and manufacturability.Provide technical expertise training, and development to other departments in support of product quality management. This includes quality technicians, team leaders, supervisors and other supporting positions as required.Interface with all departments during our daily WAR (walk around review) walk to discuss quality related issues.Manage the Quality Management System to ensure compliance to the quality handbook and implement strategic plans to improve the system to align with the company’s strategic objectives. This would include the reviewing of the current processes and ensuring they are robust and understood.Create, modify, and maintain good organization and documentation of all quality records. This will include records on goods received, quality inspections, returned material authorization, scrap, vendor NCP’s, and labor tracking.Maintain and create strategic KPI’s and daily management for all production areas to promote practical problem solving / 8-Step that aligns with the RBS problem solving methodology.Supervise equipment calibration, CMM Inspection and Incoming/Final Inspection, personnel, functions, and activities.Provide supervision and support to all direct reports.Maintain all engineering processes and procedures established by the company.Aid in document control which would include standardization, material master data, BOMS/Routings, and engineering file control.New product review and review for manufacturability.  Discuss questionable dimensional and geometric tolerances with the engineering team that may conflict with the facilities capabilities.Aid in special projects related to RBS lean manufacturing system that supports continuous improvement in the manufacturing environment to better serve our customer’s needs.Develop a high-performance team by engaging, coaching and training team members.Comfortable working in a manufacturing setting and being on the production floor.Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in related engineering discipline- Mechanical or Industrial Engineering preferred or equivalent education and work experience.3+ years’ Engineering experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.Experience with SAP preferred.2+ year(s) experience with Solidworks required.Experience with CNC lathes and mills (including set-up and programming) preferred.Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.Additional experience in the following areas preferred, but not required.Quality (Six Sigma or similar or equivalent system)SupervisionLean Manufacturing
