Schedule, supervise, and direct the installation, testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting of various types of telecommunications equipment and circuits. Assist in training subordinate personnel. Interface with central office (CO) personnel, contractors, and various internal workgroups to include but not limited to facilities, construction, and RAN engineering.

Proficient with fiber testing equipment and standards to include RFC2544 testing protocol, OTDR, and power meter usage.Provide assistance as needed to find fiber cut locations to minimize outage time.Maintain vehicle, supplies, and test equipment provided by the company in clean and operational condition.Properly manage deployment and spare inventory through cycle counts and issuances and hold team members accountable for the same using company policies and procedures.Be available via phone 24/7 for emergencies and on-call as directed. Perform other duties as assigned Qualifications REQUIREDHigh School diploma or equivalent requiredA minimum of 6 years’ experience installing and maintaining fiber optics and/or telecommunications equipment in the telecom industry required.PREFERREDExcellent communication skills required. Must possess a high degree of interpersonal skills.Proven experience leading, training, and managing technical, field team memebers is a plus.2-year associates degree in telecommunications or equivalent field preferred.Experience with SONET, DWDM and Ethernet strongly preferred.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORKING CONDITIONS:
Must be able to work some evenings and weekends in an on call/emergency environment. Regional travel will be required. Occasional longer distance may be required. Must have appropriate driver’s license and be insurance eligible. Must be able to handle and move 50 lbs. or more. Must be able to operate tools and equipment. Must be able to traverse difficult terrain, bend, crawl, and work in outdoor weather conditions for extended periods.
