Supervisor, Ops, Warehouse

Position Summary:

Reporting directly to the Senior Manager, you will be responsible for the hands-on oversight of an intense logistics and warehousing operation.  You will be responsible for material purchasing, warehousing, inventory control, order picking and delivery to internal departments.  As a leader, you will coach and develop your team of approximately 4 people, to achieve at a high level in all areas including safety, efficiency, food safety and order fulfillment.  You will be a key member of the Halifax Leadership Team.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Track, report and improve key performance indicators for areas of responsibility Take a lead role in identifying material variances and coming up with applicable strategies to eliminate / reduce future variancesStandardize and document workflow processes to improve efficiencyLead physical inventoriesCoordinate inbound and outbound logistics servicesInterface with senior management bringing suggestions and recommendationsWork with consistent urgency in coordination with all Department ManagersDefine, communicate and implement activities to support operational requirements, productivity, material controls, food safety, and health and safetyMonitor / develop appropriate KPIs to ensure the department is executing on expectations and to seek opportunities for continuous improvementCreate / review demand forecasting and consumptionResponsible for safety, quality and compliance to customer specifications and regulatory requirements and company policies and procedures.Work with maintenance staff to ensure preventive maintenance of machinery according to schedules, reports maintenance and repair issues in a timely manner.Responsible for performance evaluation, coaching, counseling, and corrective action for employees and liaises appropriately with HR and other support functions.Utilize Operating systems along with in house tools to determine purchasing requirements.Monitor requisitions for accuracy, fulfillment and delivery.Audits and ensures accuracy of vendor invoices prior to payment.Ensure accuracy of inventory levels within our operating system.Ensure all company SOP’s relating to safety, storage and Food Safety are followed.Maintain a working knowledge of product specifications.

Education:

High School diploma or equivalent a requirementPost-secondary education in a related field preferred

Work Experience:

Manufacturing, logistics, supply chain management experience requiredStrong inventory control experience required

Job Skills:

Superior analytical & problem solving skillsStrong PC skills including MS ExcelSound knowledge of all transportation modes and general warehouse and distribution practices

Communication Skills:

Excellent communication skills, both written & oral in English
