Supervisor, Outpatient Rehabilitation Services

POSITION SUMMARY:

Responsible for promoting and maintaining quality patient care through effective management and coordination of direct and indirect care activities for outpatient rehabilitation services at MMH.  Allocates available resources to promote efficient, effective, and compassionate patient care.  Provides clinical and administrative leadership and expertise for outpatient rehabilitation services.  Facilitates interdisciplinary team relationships.  Visible, accessible, and committed to communicating effectively with staff and rehab leadership.  Promotes the profession of rehabilitation services and professional practice.  Represents the organization in a positive and professional manner. 

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION:

Master's Degree or higher required. A current license from the State of Connecticut as a PT, OT or SLP is required – RPT preferred.

EXPERIENCE:

Must have at least three (3) years of experience in an outpatient care setting with demonstrated leadership potential.

COMPETENCIES:

Able to communicate effectively in English – both verbally and in writing. Basic computer skills in WORD, EXCEL, and OUTLOOK are necessary.

            Job-Specific Competency

Evaluates the quality and appropriateness of patient care.  Participates in quality improvement projects and initiatives.  Performs necessary data collection and audits related to quality and regulatory compliance. Participates in rehabilitation policy formulation and decision making through participation in councils and committees. Demonstrates an ability to be flexible, organized and function in stressful situations.  Utilizes critical thinking skills and sound judgment in priority setting and delegation. Responds to emergent situations and coordinates, directs and evaluates staff response. Supervises daily operations of outpatient rehabilitation services to include staffing (including payroll and vacation approvals) maintaining supplies, patient scheduling, interdepartmental relations, etc., to ensure needs are met. Contributes to the effective and coordinated function of outpatient services as it relates to appropriate delegation of duties, flexibility in schedule to meet department needs, and effective prioritization of workload. Working with the Rehab Director, provides timely and effective supervision of staff, including performance appraisals, payroll, scheduling, as well as documenting areas needing improvement to implement disciplinary action according to Human Resource policy. Performs patient evaluations, treatments, modalities, and procedures in accordance with appropriate discipline standards. Maintains accurate and timely patient documentation, submission of treatment charges, and any patient information as it relates to hand off, physician and /or insurance matters. Performs work duties with proper body mechanics. Consults with other health care professionals regarding patient care, maintaining an open communication (written and verbal) and fostering interdepartmental collaboration.
