Supervisor, Pharmacy (Hastings Hospital)

Overview Directs the daily operation pertaining to the pharmacy including but not limited to: inventory control, maintains accreditation compliance and preparedness, supervises pharmacists and technicians, serves as a voting member of the Central Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee (P&T), involvement in system-wide and departmental policy development, health committees, and advises and provides leadership in the areas of medication selection, procurement, storage, ordering, preparing, dispensing, billing, delivery, administration, and monitoring. Provides leadership in assuring effective and safe medication management practices and works collaboratively with all disciplines of Cherokee Nation Health Services. Qualifications EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENT Bachelor's degree from five-year college or university in Pharmacy; no substitutions. Prefer candidates successfully completed Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm D.) degree, residency training and board certification by the Board of Pharmacy Specialties (BPS). EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT Five (5) years pharmacy experience with at least two (2) years supervisor experience. COMPUTER SKILLS REQUIRED An individual should have knowledge of Database software; Internet software; Inventory software; Order processing systems; Project Management software; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS Must possess and maintain license as a Registered Pharmacist in the State of Oklahoma and meet current CME requirements. Must possess a valid driver's license with a driving history verified through a motor vehicle report that meets requirements for Cherokee Nation underwriting rating. Must obtain Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within six (6) months of employment and maintain throughout employment. OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED Ability to interact effectively (in writing and verbally) with other medical providers, patients and with Administration. OTHER QUALIFICATIONS Prefer knowledge of Commissioned Corps and Cherokee Nation policies and procedures to include recruiting, promotion, career counseling, disciplinary actions, retirement and separation procedures. PHYSICAL DEMANDS While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear and taste or smell. The employee is frequently required to stand. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. WORK ENVIRONMENT While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and toxic or caustic chemicals. The employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Requirements: • Accreditation/certification experience (DNV, ASHP, OKBOP)• Quality Management experience (ADR reviews, medication safety team, performance improvement project development)• Health system support (discharge planning, antimicrobial stewardship, project design/management, drug library/interface maintenance)• Automated Dispensing Cabinet SME – Omnicell preferred (item build, report build, report management, report analysis, user profile build/management, controlled substance manager build/management, project management/development/expansion)• Administrative experience with EHR – Cerner preferred (formulary build/management, location build/management, interface assessment/coordination, billing/charge experience)Preferred Items: • 10 years inpatient pharmacy supervisory experience• Previous Omnicell experience, 5 years• Previous Cerner experience, 5 years• Board Certification• ASHP Residency Trained• ASHP Preceptor/Director
