Supervisor, Pharmacy Technicians

UPMC Western Maryland is seeking a Pharmacy Technician Supervisor! This role will supervise the daily operational functions of the pharmacy department. Act as a liaison on matters pertaining to pharmacy operations and patient care. Assume supervisory responsibility for department employees engaged in providing pharmacy services to the hospital.
This is a full time position that will work Monday through Friday, no weekends or holidays required!
Responsibilities:
+ Oversee purchasing and inventory control, ensuring compliance with DEA regulations.
+ Establish and maintain effective communication within the department and with hospital staff.
+ Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements (JCAHO, Pennsylvania Department of Health, FDA, DEA, USP, OSHA).
+ Supervise pharmacy personnel to ensure high-quality, accurate, and efficient pharmacy services.
+ Assist in recruiting and orienting pharmacy staff, conducting performance appraisals, and addressing personnel issues.
+ Stay updated on developments in the field through continuing education and professional engagement.
+ Provide training and testing to ensure employee competency and maintain necessary documentation.
+ Develop and enforce department policies and procedures.
+ Ensure patient safety by managing staffing schedules and adjusting as needed.
+ Prepare and monitor capital and operating budgets.
+ Coordinate pharmacy scheduling to ensure adequate coverage.
+ Oversee the packaging, labeling, and distribution of medications, continuously seeking improvements.

+ Completion of high school diploma or equivalent required
+ 5 years of experience, 2 of which should be in a leadership capacity.
+ Analytical/problem solving ability necessary to participate in the development of department procedures and goals. Participate in the analyses of operational problem and proposals and direct inventory control.
+ Interpersonal skills necessary to interact with all levels of hospital personnel, communicate with vendors, and cooperate with the nursing and medical staffs.
+ Supervisory skills necessary to plan, organize, coordinate, and direct the activities of both professional and non-professional employees. Ability to work independently. Ability to prioritize and complete tasks in a timely manner to manage multiple projects. Personal computer skills.
