Supervisor, Production

Job Description

They are the collaborative liaison to other departments to support and help facilitate functions in order to secure/maintain resources necessary to accomplish production objectives and strategic initiatives. The position requires demonstrated interpersonal skills, collaborative and strategic management leadership with an understanding towards all production support operations, along with an advanced understanding of manufacturing principles, particularly Lean manufacturing.

Job Responsibilities & Requirements

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 

Manage staffing, development, and motivation of 20+ mechanical and electrical assemblers in order to accomplish all scheduled work within the standard time. 

Maintain a safe workplace for the staff through training, education, and adherence to safety rules and best practices. 

Achieves total quality management by concentrating on; continuous process quality improvement, adherence to accepted and improved inventory control procedures, maintenance of manufacturing data (including inventory) for accuracy and completeness, meeting schedule. 

Read and understand engineering drawings and specifications. 

Ability to prioritize issues, analyze situations and implement effective corrective actions. 

Ability to respond to changes in the work environment. 

Demonstrated managerial courage; self-confident and able to act as role model. 

Monitors and maintains efficiencies to achieve best cost and on-time delivery. 

Provide work flow management, planning, analysis, and training necessary to operate department in a clean, safe and productive manner. 

Review and approve employee time and schedules, including overtime management. 

Maintains positive employee and management relations and creates a work environment that is both positive and supportive.   

Analyzes work orders to estimate worker hours and create shipping schedules that meet both internal and external needs. 

Computes amounts of stock and supplies required for operations, based on production schedules, and requisition materials from storage area. 

Interfaces with others in the organization to ensure customer deadlines are met. 

Inspects and measures parts and products to verify conformance to specifications. Brings issues to the attention of the plant manager if parts are found to be defective or out of conformance. 

Establishes or adjusts work procedures to meet shipping schedules. 

Assists in development of capital equipment justifications for machine and process technology to improve quality, cost, and cycle times. Estimates, requisitions, and inspects materials. 

Attendance at work during the regularly scheduled shift is an essential duty. This includes, but is not limited to the ability to be present at work, ability to work overtime as required, arrive on time and be at the work station ready for work at the start of the shift. 

 

SKILLS & ABILITIES: 

Education: High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED): Required  

Experience: 3-7 years related experience  

Computer Skills: Proficiency with Internet Explorer, Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word required. 
Experience with QAD Manufacturing or other ERP system preferred.   

Other Requirements: Welding and machinery experience preferred.
