Supervisor, Purchasing
SUMMARYSources, negotiates, and purchases machinery, equipment, tools, raw material, packaging materials, parts, services, and or supplies necessary for operation of an organization. Compiles and analyzes statistical data to determine feasibility of buying products and to establish price objectives. Monitors performance of suppliers. Compiles information to keep informed on price trends and manufacturing processes. Evaluates areas of opportunity to leverage material acquisitions. Tracks data to keep internal customers informed on price trends and manufacturing processes. Negotiates with suppliers and analyzes suppliers operations to determine factors that affect prices and to determine lowest cost consistent with quality, reliability, and ability to meet required schedules. Reviews proposals, negotiates prices, selects, or recommends suppliers, analyzes trends, follows up orders placed, verifies delivery, approves payment, and maintains necessary records. May prepare request for proposals (RFP) and bid packages. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Maintain computerized purchasing systemNegotiate competitive pricing for purchasesEstablish and maintain multiyear vendor contractsCollaborate with other Managers to solve problems and work on efficiencyPerforms inventory analysis on a regular basis to ensure safety stock levels are adequate Resolves invoices and purchase order disputesInteracts with and interviews vendors, salesman and department heads concerning the purchase of aircraft parts, supplies and equipmentVerifies and processes requisitions, purchase orders, inventory re-order pointsAttend meetings to represent the procurement teamSupervises group of buyers; coaching and or counseling; Performance appraisal All other duties as assignedSUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organizations policies and applicable laws. Bachelors preferred.Prior supervisory or leadership experienceFluent with MRP systems, specifically materials management functionality.Strong business acumen coupled with mental aptitude and motivation to learn new functions and expand areas of expertise. Exceptional interpersonal skills. Successful candidate regularly interacts with teams on matters concerning several functional areas.
