Responsible for day-to-day operations of the Radiation Oncology Department. Is driven to meet and exceed patient and physician expectations. Assists in selecting, developing and maintaining teams of competent staff and holds them accountable for and recognizes their contributions for desired results. Maintains responsibility to see that customer and physician satisfaction is achieved. Is responsible for the financial as well as service outcomes of the departments.

JOB DUTIES
1.    Actively demonstrates the organization’s mission and core values and conducts oneself at all times in a manner consistent with these values.
2.    Knows and adheres to all laws and regulations pertaining to patient health, safety and medical information. 
3.    Supervises all technical aspects of the Radiation Oncology programs in accordance with standards established by the hospital and outside regulatory agencies. 
4.    Assists in developing and secures approval of short term and long range goals and objectives for areas of responsibility. Upon approval, imple¬ments plans and budgets necessary to meet agreed-upon goals.
5.    Oversees development and maintenance of quality control programs necessary to safeguard the welfare of patients, personnel and equipment.  
6.    Reviews proposed policies and procedures ensuring consistency with overall Hospital philosophy.
7.    Coordinates activities of the department with other Hospital departments to enhance the smooth and efficient delivery of medical services to patients.
8.    Interviews, hires and evaluates the performance of and, when necessary, disci¬plines and discharges subordinate personnel.  Assists in resolving complex associate relations matters.
9.    Reviews recommendations for department equip¬ment modifications, new supplies and equipment purchases.  Recommends and secures approval of major capital expense items and, upon approval, initiates the capital purchase process.
10.    Ensures all department records are properly maintained.  Directs preparation of or prepares periodic and special analyses and reports required for senior management as well as outside agencies.
11.    Reviews problems or incidents affecting efficient and safe operation of department and resolves problems with scheduling, under ¬utilization of equipment, and good stewardship.
12.    Assists in the management of productivity and budget variances.
13.    Duties & responsibilities include accuracy of documenting services and supplies provided to patients, including those that may produce patient charges.  If designated as a “Revenue Lead”, additional responsibilities will include revenue reconciliation and charge-error correction as specified by departmental process and hospital policy.
14.    Manages subordinates in respective department(s). Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these department(s). Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
15.    Performs other duties consistent with purpose of job as directed.


JOB SPECIFICATIONS AND CORE COMPETENCIES
Education: Demonstrated leadership and management abilities that are normally acquired through the completion of a Bachelor’s degree.
Licensure: Certified Radiation Technologist, Oncology Certification or RN license with Oncology experience. Must be certified in the State of Indiana.  CPR certification.


Experience: 3 years experience working as a Radiation Technologist or Oncology RN, 2-3 years leadership experience preferred (Senior RT or management experience).  Five to seven years of previous and progressively more responsible work-related experience in a supervisory role preferred.

Work requires the analytical ability necessary to design highly complex systems and programs, resolve problems requiring a comprehensive and state of the art awareness of the technology and literature in a professional, technical or scientific field, or develop financial and operating plans for a large department.
