HealthPartners is hiring a Regional Clinic Laboratory Supervisor. This position will travel to various laboratory, clinic, and administrative locations in the Twin Cities metro area, as needed. The Regional Clinic Laboratory Supervisor is responsible for the technical, scientific and shared personnel oversight of the HealthPartners Medical Group family of Clinic Laboratories. The Regional Clinic Laboratory Supervisor will be responsible for supervising laboratory staff for multiple sites, including those supporting primary care, specialty care, urgent care, quick clinic, Well@Work and other laboratory service models. The Regional Clinic Laboratory Supervisor is a member of the Laboratory Leadership Team and works in collaboration with the Clinic Leadership, Clinical & Administrative Laboratory Directors and others in support of the Triple Aim. Duties of this position involve coordinating laboratory operations, including technical & operational support, supervision of staff and schedules, facilitating patient experience, oversight of regulatory matters, monitoring financials and fostering a healthy work environment.
ACCOUNTABILITIES:
TECHNICAL - Provides Technical and scientific oversight of HealthPartners Clinic Laboratories to ensure quality test performance:
Collaborates with Laboratory Medical Director or Clinical Lab Director to suggest test methodologies and instrumentation appropriate for clinical use.
Verifies test procedures performed and establishes the laboratory’s performance criteria, including the accuracy and precision of each test and test system.
Enrolls laboratory in an approved proficiency testing (PT) program commensurate with services offered. Documents, reviews and monitors PT results.
Ensures instrument performance to include calibration, maintenance records, quality control and troubleshooting.
Monitors, reviews, and documents quality control records. Resolves technical problems and ensures remedial actions are taken whenever test systems deviate from the laboratory’s established performance specifications.
Identifies training needs and ensures testing personnel receive ongoing continuing education and in-service training.
Evaluates the competency of all testing personnel on an ongoing basis.
Reviews abnormal patient test results on a daily basis.
Participates on the Laboratory Quality Committee and other operational committees, as appropriate.
Implements and monitors “Point of Care” testing within the clinic, as directed by the HPMG POCT guidelines.
Collaborates with Laboratory Information Services Team on day to day operations and facilitates system enhancements and upgrades.
Establishes and implements laboratory policies, procedures and processes utilizing Compliance 360.
REGULATORY- Ensures compliance with applicable regulatory agencies such as COLA, CLIA, CAP, OSHA, etc.:
Provides Quality Assurance and productivity reports to Laboratory Manager, Laboratory Directors and Clinic Leadership as requested.
Prepares for and participates in inspections as required.
Keeps up to date on regulatory and laboratory safety matters.
FINANCIAL & STATEGIC-
Develops, monitors and manages the Clinic Laboratory budget(s).
Monitors monthly expense and staffing productivity indicators.
Participates in facility design and remodels.
Monitors productivity utilizing acceptable and representative benchmarks.
Participates in development and delivery of Laboratory Service models.
PERSONNEL- Provides personnel management and development:
Manages technical staffing in collaboration with Clinic Leadership to ensure a healthy work environment including respect and engagement.
Provides direct supervision of Urgent Care, Float and on-call laboratory staff.
Works with Clinic Leadership to establish and evaluate performance through annual appraisals and coaching/discipline activities, including termination decisions.
Assesses competency of staff on an annual basis.
Implements procedural, policy and computer changes, communicating appropriate information to laboratory personnel.
Interviews and hires new technical staff utilizing HR tools and resources and in collaboration with the Clinic Leadership as appropriate.
COLLABORATION- As a member of the HealthPartners Laboratory Leadership Team:
Provides consultation and education to providers and care team regarding laboratory procedures and utilization of lab services.
Facilitates laboratory orientation for physicians, nursing staff and other clinic staff, as directed by Clinic Leadership.
Works with medical staff and Clinical Lab Director to assure appropriate utilization of laboratory services, including Point of Care Testing.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology, Medical Laboratory Science or Clinical Laboratory Science; NCA, ASCP or equivalent certification.
Five years of recent experience working in a clinical laboratory setting.
Thorough knowledge of laboratory regulatory requirements (CLIA, COLA, CAP.OSHA, etc.), including clinical application of those regulations, quality and continuous improvement.
Proven skills and experience with Electronic Medical Record, Laboratory Information Systems and associated technology applications.
Proven project management skills and knowledge.
Proven computer knowledge and ability, including skills with Excel, Word, Powerpoint, Visio, etc.
Proven Leadership skills such as partnership/collaboration, coaching/development, engagement, healthy communication, outcomes driven & critical thinking, and integrity.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Previous laboratory supervisory or management experience.
