About this position

Provides appropriate staffing and expertise to the patient census, which will promote consistent care for patients receiving services of the Respiratory Care Department. Assists the department Manager with HR related issues such as recruiting, onboarding/orientation, retention, performance improvement and employee appraisal. Provides direct supervision to the Respiratory Therapists (RTs) in the absence of the Manager. Assists the Manager with quality assurance, risk management, strategic plan rollout, and implementation. Provides a cross-divisional resource for the clinical support of other disciplines in the Medical Center. Provides oversight and supervision of RT staffing utilization, focused on scheduling, time & attendance, call and coverage, human resource intervention, quality assurance, and assigned projects. Maximizes department financial performance through scheduling, tracking individual performance, and participates in the evolution of the assignment process. Performs duties which will ensure appropriate care delivery for acute and critical patients at North Memorial Health - Maple Grove Hospital. This may be accomplished through direct bedside assessment, direct physician and unit rounding, therapy determination, patient chart review, and outcome data review. Leads in the development and implementation of department and interdisciplinary protocols, policies, and procedures relative to respiratory therapy patients.

 

Requirements

Education

• Associates Degree in Respiratory Therapy, bachelor's degree in respiratory therapy preferred   

Experience

Experience
• Minimum of 5 years' experience as a Respiratory Therapist
• Previous Management, Supervisory, or Educator Experience preferred.

Current RRT experience required, including current NICU experience (Level III minimally). Position is a 1.0 FTE - 0.8 will be for supervisor role and a 0.2 will be to work as a staff RT within the hospital (1 day per week).

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
• Training and experience in a medical acute and critical care environment.
• Demonstrates an ability to communicate effectively, organize and prioritize assignments, make decisions, and exercise good judgment
  

Licensure/Certification

• Current Minnesota Registered Respiratory Therapist (Employees must meet all annual requirements for renewal including mandated CEU’s)
• Must be currently certified with both BLS & ACLS
• Must be currently certified in NRP
• Must be currently certified in PALS

Salary Range: N24 ($42.29 - $63.24), based on experience  

Shift Differential: Compensation may include shift differential pay depending on the position and shift worked.
