Department Overview

 

The men and women of Electric Operations ensure the delivery of safe and reliable electric service to our customers. Electric Operations is responsible for every aspect of PG&E’s electric distribution and transmission operations, including planning, engineering, maintenance and construction, asset management, business planning, restoration and emergency response.

 

Position Summary

 

Uses reliability engineering concepts and Asset Management principles to lead a team of union represented engineers and non-represented specialists in the development of life cycle asset strategies, asset management plans and initiatives to support system health, innovation, and substation emergency readiness and response. Ensures the 5 year plan reflect the short and long term strategies to address system risk and assets life cycle.

 

PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job.  The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity.  Although we estimate the successful candidate hired into this role will be placed towards the middle or entry point of the range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors.​

A reasonable salary range is:​

Bay Area Minimum: $​147,000

Bay Area Maximum: $​251,000

&/OR​

California Minimum: $​140,000

California Maximum: $​238,000

 

Job Responsibilities

 

Emergency response and preparedness: mobilization of emergency materials for substations in the event of equipment failures and ensures proper inventory level of emergency material. Oversees a team of engineers who develop short term and long-term strategies and criteria for how replacements occur in the power system. Supervises staff, Union and Professional employees, to accomplish results through effective recruitment and selection, training and development, performance management, rewards and recognition. Oversees the total list of development programs for Substation and coordinates with other stakeholders (Capacity Planning, Automation, System Implementation) to consolidate implementation plans. Meets with Superintendents in Maintenance and Construction to gather information and promote substation development initiatives  Provides oversight of the development of the T&D substation 5- year plans in alignment with the assets’ strategies and risk profile Works closely with the Supervisor of the Asset Implementation team to align on the execution priorities of the current year work, short term strategies and 5-year plans Provides periodic updates for Sr. Leadership on substation programs’ effectiveness and initiatives’ progress Collaborates with the Risk team to update the Substation assets’ risk profile Provides oversight and tracking for the department’s Corrective Action Program (CAP Provides regular reports relating to PG&E’s asset requirement obligation and information providing answers to Transmission and Distribution filings and other regulatory requests.

 

Qualifications

 

Minimum:

 

Bachelors Degree or equivalent experience Experience in engineering, or related, 7 years

 

Desired:

 

Electrical Engineering Degree Experience in electric Substation Asset Management, 4 years Experience in substation engineering Leadership experience, 2 years PE-Professional Engineer license, California PMI-Project Management Institute PMP-Project Management Professional certification
