Workshop Supervisor

This is located in Laredo, TX 

Position Summary:

 

Responsible for facilitating the day to day running of a fast-paced workshop including issuing work orders, supervising machine re-fits and PDI process and following through on the dispatch of equipment to customers. Managing day to day issues that arise and supervising workshop personnel. Responsible for all aspects of Health and Safety for the site.

Performance Expectations:

·         Manage, initiate, and direct the activities of employees’ and equipment.

·         Allocating work to employees, setting daily targets and communicating precise instructions.

·         Regular communication with key Skyjack locations

·         Organize machines for delivery

·         Inventory control

·         Machine re-fit and PDI

·         Must be able to troubleshoot equipment.

·         Shipment of Equipment

·         Effective employee relations. Monitor and initiate training activities in the department and all related documentation. Complete performance evaluations for their department as required.

·         Works and ensures that all employees work in a safe manner, in a safe environment. Perform weekly safety inspections, 5S inspections, Layered Audits. Complete tasks as assigned from Monthly Workplace Inspections.

·         Ensure compliance with all legislative and Linamar policies.

·         Other duties as assigned.

 

Credentials:

·         High School diploma or equivalent experience.

·         Evidence of technical training in a mechanical field would be an advantage.

·         The successful candidate would need to gain a license or certification to operate a Forklift and Mobile Elevating Work Platform (MEWP) equipment.

 

Desired Characteristics:

 

·         Previous supervisory experience would be preferred.

·         Has a strong mechanical aptitude.

·         Will be organized and detail oriented.

·         Read completed inspection forms to ensure all maintenance, repair and inspection tasks have been adequately completed by workers. Identify structures and locate dimensions in scale drawings.

·         Must work efficiently, safely, either independently, or with a team.

·         Must have strong communication skills.

·         Must have computer experience i.e. work with Microsoft products.

·         Is self-motivated to complete the required daily tasks within the specified deadlines.

·         Has the ability to continuously learn on the job.

·         Bilingual (English & Spanish) is an advantage.
