Job Description

OceanaGold is seeking a suitably qualified and reliable Supervisor – Civil / Infrastructure (TSF) who will be responsible for overseeing and managing the safe and efficient operation of the Tailings Storage Facility to ensure compliance with environmental regulations, implementation of safety protocols and to maintain its integrity throughout the life of the mine and will report to the Superintendent-TSF Operations.

Key tasks and responsibilities:

Understanding of tailings management practices, including design, construction, operation, and closure of Tailings Storage Facilities (TSFs) in compliance with ANCOLD and GISTM guidelines;Proficiency in implementing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for tailings management;Ability to enforce health, safety, environmental, and quality standards in accordance with organizational policies and legal regulations;The ability to operate a vehicle safely and responsibly, minimizing risks and preventing accidents through defensive driving techniques; andProficiency in conducting inspections using appropriate tools and techniques to assess the integrity and performance of tailings facilities. Follow up with any required maintenance activities.

QualificationsA diploma or degree in Geotechnical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field;At least 3 years of relevant experience in tailings management or related fields within the mining industry;Experience working within cross-functional teams, including collaboration with engineers, procurement, contractors, and operations staff;With a valid Professional Driver’s License;Holder of NC II driving;Relevant supervisory certifications as required by local regulations & OceanaGold;Experience specifically in tailings dam operations or management roles within the mining sector;Completion of leadership development programs or courses related to mining operations;Strong understanding of mining operations and tailings management systems;Excellent verbal and written communication abilities for effective reporting and collaboration;Capability to analyze data from monitoring systems to inform operational decisions;Proficient in identifying issues quickly and implementing effective solutions; andWillingness to work flexible hours and adapt to changing operational needs;
