Assists in enabling employees to contribute to the overall effectiveness of the organization. Manages the daily work process of the agency or unit. Ensure detainees constitutional rights have been appropriately met from admission to a correctional facility to their release. research ever changing laws and policy and implementing them accordingly. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Four (4) years of related experience or education; OR an equivalent combination of related education and experience. One (1) year of supervisory experience is preferred. Must be able to be certified through the Bureau of Identification (BCI). Due to the nature of this position, the successful applicant must pass a required pre-employment background check and subsequent mandatory background checks in accordance with current County Human Resources policy requirements. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS + Manages the work unit by providing leadership, direction to staff, making decisions, solving problems, developing unit procedures, conducting meetings, and representing the work unit in internal and external meetings. + Interprets and ensures self and work unit employees are in compliance with agency policies and procedures, laws, and post + Manages and maintains job-related electronic + Ensures effective employee relations through creating a culture of ethics, fairness, and a safe working environment. Establishes effective lines of communications, manages conflict; identifies and solves employee + Supervises subordinate personnel including hiring, determining workload and delegating assignments, training, monitoring and evaluating performance, reviewing work quality and initiating corrective or disciplinary actions. + Orders, receives, inspects, and stores equipment, merchandise, commodities, materials, and/or supplies. + Receives, researches, and responds to incoming questions or complaints from outside agencies or prisoner population; provides information, explains policy and procedures, and/or facilitates a resolution. + Observe physical conditions, behavior, or surroundings for potential areas of concern or inappropriate activity + Acts as a liaison between local, State and Federal entities. + Prepares and/or delivers presentations, training, or instruction to team members + Research and interpret new legislative policy / laws and update internal procedures accordingly. + Assists in the developing, writing, and implementation of internal policies, job descriptions, and guidelines in conjunction with Administration + Provides coverage in the absence of Assistant Supervisor or other supervisory staff to ensure the proper oversight is maintained. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSA) Knowledge of: + Proficiency in a technologically driven environment with intermediate to advanced computer skills + General office software and equipment + Computer aided Dispatch/County and State computer information systems. In-depth knowledge of Utah Bureau of Criminal Information policy, procedure, legal requirements and operation of state and national criminal information systems + Personnel management + Basic knowledge of Government Access Management Act (GRAMA) + Basic bookkeeping and cashiering procedures + Criminal Justice System + Warrants, court commitment records and documentation of both state and federal entities + Record Management Systems + Criminal Justice organizations and process + Working knowledge of OMS/UCJIS/Court Xchange/Filenet + Sheriff's Office and Jail Policy and Procedures + Sheriff's Office, State, and Federal computer databases related to job specific duties + State and Federal laws pertaining to the arrest, detention and release of a detainee and/or prisoner Skills and Abilities to: + Supervise effectively and coordinate available resources + Act independently and make sound judgments + Follow verbal and written procedures and instructions + Issue department wide clear and concise procedures and instructions + Work effectively with all levels of personnel with tact and diplomacy + Schedule adequate area staffing and ensure attendance at required training + Perceive and analyze problems, plan and develop alternatives, and effect innovative solutions + Use general office equipment including a personal computer + Speak and write clearly, concisely and effectively; listen to and understand, information and ideas as presented verbally or in writing + Demonstrate strong organizational and planning skills + Demonstrate professional telephone etiquette + Perform effectively under pressure while keeping a calm and positive demeanor + Lead and motivate people to grow within their current position and in the county + Make Decisions and solve problems by using logic to identify key facts, explore alternatives, and propose quality solutions + Maintain confidentiality of records and personnel information + Deal with people in a manner which shows sensitivity, tact, and professionalism + Identify staff members that would be best suited for projects or committees based on their personality and work ethic WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Requires lifting up to 30 lbs, sitting or standing for extended periods of time.
