Job DescriptionExciting Opportunity at MSK: We are currently seeking a Blood Bank Supervisor to primarily be responsible for the Main Blood Bank at the Center for Laboratory Medicine and Main Hospital Rapid Results Laboratory Blood Depot.
Role Overview:
Supervise the day-to-day operations of the Blood Bank and related human resource management and customer service areas.Work collaboratively with BB Physicians/Medical Director, patient care staff/clinicians, reference labs and other business partners to optimize Blood Banking practice while maintaining accreditation and licensure.Personnel development, coaching and mentoring of technical staffDeveloping personnel goals, tasks and service standards to set a high morale and motivation within the Blood BankMaintaining training files for staff members; and for training and competency evaluation of the Blood Bank staffCoordinating and supervising personnel and technical operations of the Blood Bank on a day-to-day basis.Ensuring that technical procedures are performed according to the SOP under the highest standards of quality in a timely manner.Review of Antibody Identification Workups, Transfusion Reaction Workups, ABO Discrepancy Workups, and of result exception reports.Assist the Laboratory Manager and Assistant Manager in:
Review and approval of new or revised documents, processes and test methods and their validations; Review and approval of Change Control Requests and providing mentorship to change control initiators as neededEstablishing, implementing and maintaining the SOP Manual; ensuring that written procedures exist for the safety and quality of manufactured products, and that documents are placed in a controlled locationAssessing the impact of events on systems or processes as they affect product safety, efficacy, purity, identity and potencySupervising serious adverse events and event reporting; Implementing corrective action within the scope of Event investigation.Assist the Lab Manager to guarantee compliance with local, state and federal accrediting and regulatory organizations regarding blood component manufacturing, patient sample testing, including compliance with OSHA, FDA, NYSDOH, Joint Commission, CLIA etc.Performs audits of Blood Bank operations to ensure compliance with the laboratory’s quality/compliance program, standard operating procedures and regulatory agencies. Communicates findings to the Blood Bank Medical Director/management team.Key Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree clinical laboratory sciences required6+ years of proven experience requiredNYS Clinical Laboratory Technologist License requiredASCP preferredCore Skills:
